Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers on Sunday, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Jamie and Bolton came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Monday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot. There's also a pop-up message waiting for them: a notice announcing "office hours" for Bolton in the library and Jamie in the art room every day from here on out.

No...I've had my suspicious since the moment they appeared that our Overseers are working at cross purposes. Each of them is hoping for a different reaction from us.

I agree. My worry is that it might be intentional- if one is comically cruel then the other seems reasonable by comparison.

... though if they ARE truly at odds, we can use that.

That's a good point, though. Maybe Jamie is just playing the "good cop."

[...interjects a ridiculous-looking behelmeted young lady.]

Good cop?

[He hasn't heard the term, though it is exactly what he's thinking]

...also, why are you wearing that?

You know, one interrogator acts hostile and threatening, and the other one acts nice, and the suspect starts thinking of the good cop as his ally and cooperates with him.

And it's for protection. [Obviously.]

Ah, yes that is actually what I meant.

[And now he has a phrase for it! Never mind he has no idea what a cop is. Anyway, he reaches out and lightly raps the back of his knuckles against the helmet, lips quirked in a almost-smile]

What a sad helmet, it's not even iron.

[...come to think of it, cops aren't particularly relevant to Ricky anymore.]

I think it's plastic. It's some kind of synthetic material. It's mostly made to protect against impacts, so the padding inside is the important part.

Precisely. It's worth attempting to see if we can turn them against each other. If not, then we'll deal with him as one of our abductors.

As long as we don't let him manipulate us with his 'kindness'.
