Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers on Sunday, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Jamie and Bolton came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Monday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot. There's also a pop-up message waiting for them: a notice announcing "office hours" for Bolton in the library and Jamie in the art room every day from here on out.

Oh, so you use another system like Twiright-san does?

Yes. We have a 26 hour clock, but if I'm seeing it right, this one only runs on a 24 hour clock. It makes sense that my calendar would be different.

Oh, that's right! Different planets have different days, but this seems to be based on Earth, which is where most people live anyway, at least back home. So everything even in space is set up to work with that kind of clock. Maybe that means the Overseers came from an Earth, too!

If they did, then why pull someone like me here? Shouldn't they have stuck to worlds like yours?

The Doctor says reaching all these different worlds would be difficult and hazardous, and he seems to be the expert. Maybe they took what they could get?

That makes me feel better.

I don't know! But at least we know these are people like us, so coming from that perspective, we should be able to figure out what they're thinking.

Even Thomasin who can't read? What perspective would she give us?

Oh, everyone has something they can learn and something different to contribute. Just because someone might not have had formal schooling doesn't mean they don't know anything at all!

Someone still needs to teach her how to read.

I wonder if we have any books simpler than literal rocket science?

You'll have to check. Libraries have big selections.

Even if there isn't, I'm sure we could just pick a language and write out an alphabet for her!

...Why can we all suddenly speak the same things, anyway?

That might be something you'd want to ask the Overseers.

I'll keep it in mind! Responsible information gathering, just leave it to me ♥ But however it happened, it's useful, isn't it? I don't know what we'd do if we couldn't even understand each other!

Oh, right, that would work too! But what about Rukia-chan, who only draws rabbits?

Then we're stuck trying to guess what those rabbits are supposed to be doing.

Whatever they have in place to translate is a much easier solution.

As long as they keep doing it. I don't want to find out just how little someone can understand me otherwise.

[At least a chunk of people here would be speaking the same language.]
