Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers on Sunday, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Jamie and Bolton came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Monday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot. There's also a pop-up message waiting for them: a notice announcing "office hours" for Bolton in the library and Jamie in the art room every day from here on out.

We mainly had canned food, supplemented with veggies. Can't imagine Yuki ever liking this, though.

Is it wartime in your world?

[Kurumi's shoulders hunch just a little.]

Not that I know of. I... I guess it was kind of a cross between a natural disaster and a terrorist attack, maybe. My club and I got trapped in our school for a long time.

[There were things she couldn't keep quiet. Kurumi really couldn't pretend to be a normal student anymore and a few other champions already heard about her world's, ah, problem.]

Your school must have felt something like this would happen if they had stockpiled canned foods, and MRE's for emergencies.

[Still not something she would ever hope a child would have to go through.]

I think so, too. We even found out they had bunkers underneath it. It was advertised as a state of the art modern private high school so we hadn't really thought about how well off it was until we found the bunkers.

[That... that been rough.]

Private schools tend to take the safety of their students more seriously than public schools.

[Because they can afford it.]

[Private schools usually don't make bunkers with literal tons of food stored in them.]

Yeah. Still... Something about it seems a little off even now. I think they knew something like this was coming; you don't prepare like that for a flood or earthquake.

[Maybe the normal ones don't? It could be some super elite private school that tops all the others.]

Knowing paranoia, it could have been their fear of the world ending that started that.

Could have been. I think they might have known that there was a chance that the disease would get loose, judging by the emergency manual we found.

Does your title have something to do with that?

If you mean that I kill zombies, yes.

Yeah. That's what the disaster was.

I can see the appeal of the bunker now.

'Course we had to clear 'em out before we got to it, though.

They were inside the school?

The virus hit when not a lot of people were there so it got overrun pretty easily. We got lucky and were on the roof where we could defend ourselves.

So you went from the roof and into the bunker. That's impressive for a kid.

There was four of us and taking back the third floor was--hey! [She flushes a little.] I'm technically an adult now, I'm eighteen.

[But thanks.]

Compared to me, you're a kid. [Height and looks make you look like a kid.]

I'm not a soldier, yeah... [She's a kid, really.]

You think you'd be cut out for the military life?

I mean, I think I could be but I don't want to. I always thought I'd just get married when I graduated.

That..... sounds depressing.
