Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers on Sunday, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Jamie and Bolton came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Monday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot. There's also a pop-up message waiting for them: a notice announcing "office hours" for Bolton in the library and Jamie in the art room every day from here on out.

I have people I want to protect. That doesn't mean they are my friends. You can protect someone without ever putting that name to the relationship.

Well, there's nothing wrong with calling someone a friend, though! Is there a reason you don't want to consider people friends with you? I mean, it's not like I would mind, if you did want to...

I have my sister to take care of. [To save from the fate of becoming one of those turned into a monster l'Cie.] And as a soldier, it's my duty to protect those who can't protect themselves. There's no time for friendship. Even here. There's people to protect from these men and their plans for us.

And you can't be friends with the people you want to protect? You can't let those people protect you, every now and again?

[ She's glad for Lightning's intentions, but... ]

I know you're looking out for us, but I'm sure quite a few of us want to look out for you, as well, Lightning-san. Not to say that you can't take care of yourself, of course, but...well, can't we support each other?

[No. Right now, to Lightning, if you aren't Serah or the few innocent people here, then she's not doing her job right. Friendship can get in the way or protecting. If you're weak, then either get stronger or stay behind her.

She's not sure how to respond to this. So Light turns her full attention to the piece of paper in front of her. Chitanda would have a high Charisma, wouldn't she.]

...Well, I've got your back, whether you like it or not, Lightning-san.

[ That seems to be the bottom line, here. ]

Even if we aren't friend friends, we should at least stick together!

[It takes quite a while before a very quiet 'thank you' slips out. Lightning stands, putting the paper down.]

I should go see if anyone else needs help with anything.

[kininaru]

Okay! I'll see you later, okay, Lightning-san? If you want to come see me, please don't be a stranger!

[She nods, starting to walk out.]
