It floats away, a small wish with tears and a little regret

[ After the entire trial, Clarith gets to work. If Rii-san won't make the memorials, she will, and if Rii-san does, she'll supervise. And then, she'll slip a letter under each door. ]

Please join me in the gardens for a funeral and then a wake in the first floor rest area.

- Sister Clarith

[ When people arrive, Clarith is waiting with her Levin Bible in hand. Afterward, they can all file into the rest area, where hopefully someone has made food! She's sure someone would have, but she wanted to just... Get the funeral done. ]

I'm.... a cat fan myself. Kipsie is still annoying with how affectionate she is for a fucking bird.

[Sad coo from the trees.]

But......... since I can't have a cat here, I may as well have something non-human to take care of.

[Happy chirp! Where the hell is that bird...]

They're not all that bad for companions, strange as they are. [Which was Luscinia's cue to start trying to preen his hair again.] I used to know someone who preferred cats. Personally I can't say I much cared for his, it had a miserable temper.

[you know what nari, you like animals and have sibling issues, you're okay with him]

I never had my own pet before my cat Cream. But she's a sweetheart unless you make me uncomfortable. Animals... Seem to know when their humans need help.

[It's mostly what she's about. Issues and animals. You're okay with her too, as long as you don't spread a plague.]

Philomela was usually good at that. She used to pull my retainer's hair when we started arguing. Snapped at my brother a few times, as well.

[That almost, almost got a smile out of him that wasn't partway a derisive smirk.]

...In hindsight I think that bird had better judgment than I did.

That's because animals have a sixth sense and a bunch of other things that can help them figure out if something is wrong or not. Cream kept me out of trouble many a times while we traveled.

[What she wouldn't give to have that cat here with her right now...]

Sounds like a smart cat. Did it just warn you off, or put its claws to good use in the process?

[his majesty may or may not have been terribly savaged by your average lucian housecat once upon a time]

[cats may be the only thing on eos to give less of a fuck about anything than ardyn izunia]

She did both. Sometimes used those claws on me when I wouldn't listen. Your Philharmonica ever do that?

[That... was the name, right?]

Philomela. [close enough.] She did bite on occasion if she thought she was being ignored, but not all that hard. The bigger threat from a chocobo is their feet; they can kick unbelievably hard, and absolutely will if provoked enough.

... sounds like a cassowary. Except I don't think your chocobo are carnivores... Are they?

[Don't fuck with cassowaries.]
scourgingstars: (if i look hard enough)

[personal profile] scourgingstars 2017-06-20 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
No, they're exclusively herbivores. Though I suppose that would be an understandable assumption if you saw one; the average chocobo is a little taller than I am. They're used for transportation, mostly.

Are they like the kinshi Takumi mentioned? Can they fly?
scourgingstars: (if i look hard enough)

[personal profile] scourgingstars 2017-06-20 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
We talked about those once; they're somewhat similar, except for that one point. Only the black variety can fly, and they can't do much more than glide for some distances while carrying a rider.

The closest thing we have in my world is called an ostrich, and those bastards are too mean to make good transport. We usually use horses for riding and carriages, and other animals for pulling.

Junpei did mention those when I told him; I don't believe my world has horses, just your average even-tempered giant birds.

[you know, like normal]

Even-tempered can be the most dangerous. I'd still love to see them sometime.

Even better than the pigeons? Though... I still question the ones here. Too smart for birds that size.
scourgingstars: (i'm down deep and i need your help)

[personal profile] scourgingstars 2017-06-21 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
I might call the pigeons about as smart, but I've never once heard a chocobo sing. And if they ever could, certainly not at that level of talent.
everylittlesecret: (♩ Carve your name in every cavity)

[personal profile] everylittlesecret 2017-06-21 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
All birds are capable of singing. It's whether it's good or not that is the question.

[personal profile] scourgingstars 2017-06-21 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
You have clearly never heard a chocobo, Nari. The best I can describe the sound they make is 'crowing loudly in one's ear at varying degrees of dissonance.'
everylittlesecret: (♬ I just wanna have you up in my head)

....... that sounds like an ostrich. Got it. Still cute to think about, though.
