[As with the weeks before, life in the Fantasy Sweet returns to something resembling normalcy with shocking efficiency. The second floor rest area and Adventure Zone Death Orb Room are spotless again, the demon glitter has been vacuumed, the deflated orbs have been replaced. It's like none of it ever happened, like three more friends aren't dead and stored away in the guest house morgue.

There's a new floor to explore, their "reward" for a job well done.]

[Kip is here with some kind of candy, wrapping his tongue around a white stick of sugar and dipping it into various colored (and presumably flavored) sugars before sucking the sugar dip off with a wet slurp.

Basically anyone who hasn't slept with him yet is getting a free show. And also he's gesturing with the sugar stick when he isn't sucking it down.]

I've kind of told some people all of the story and everyone some of the story, but...

[he glances at the cameras.]

There were two seasons of this before, both of which took place inside of a computer world while the Champions were asleep with their brains hooked up to the machine. The first season went out really quick, and left only two survivors. Those survivors were the Overseers for the second season, but one thing that was different about season 2... was that there were survivors. Seven people woke up from their dream - eight, counting one of the Overseers.

The last thing the network told me after the finale was that they had let the survivors go. I thought that meant the actors went home with their paychecks, but I think... they got away.

...So there's a chance we can get out of here, too.

Or...I guess, even if it is?

Kip, is there any way to know this is real?

It is.

The reason why the others had no idea it was a dream was because the first season's Overseers were under orders not to tell, and the second season's Overseers obviously didn't know because their group didn't stay alive to find out.

But my NDA doesn't cover being Overseen by a murderous AI, so fuck it. I know for sure it's not a dream.

Actually, what happened to the first season's Overseers? Do you know?

Man, I... barely remember. That was like almost a month ago - an Intergalactic month, that is, which is like two human years.

But I know one of them died. One of the last two left didn't want to risk anyone trying to force their hands, I guess.

I thought violence against the Overseers was forbidden.

When there's only two Champions left there's not much they can really hold over them anymore, right?

Well... I mean... death? I sort of assumed the punishment for that would be death.

No, I mean- the other Overseer had already left - who was going to enforce it?

Oh.

Daaaammmmnn. So... I guess they didn't have something like PAL, huh?

Hah, actually there was an AI on the ship, but her functions were way more limited than PAL.

Also, she was more friendly with that season's champions than either of their Overseers were.

So the opposite of our situation.

Listen...Kipper, I don't want to be all pedantic or anything, but how do you know for sure? Just because you were told so? By who? The fucking network that lied to you and screwed you over with a hostile takeover?

Just...saying. Sometimes a thing seems so real that you wouldn't be able to tell. If it wasn't.

Uh, because I remember coming here from the network to set up.

And you're sure those memories are real, that all that happened in reality?

...Hey, do me a favor and hit me, cuz I'm like teetering way on the edge of falling down the rabbit hole and taking the red pill or...the blue one, or whichever.

I can't sleep if I don't have a sweet honey to snuggle up to, and I don't have any missing chunks of memory where I might've gotten knocked out, so yeah, I'm sure.

[He'll reach over and give you a sharp pinch on the arm, instead, twisting and pulling some arm hair.]

[Angel looked to Rhys, then fell silent. She didn't want to stay here, that much she was sure of. But if the choice was between living here or going home...]

Did they go back to where they came from? Or...

...I don't know. They went back... somewhere. Like I said, the Network lost contact with them, that's the last anybody's heard of them.

I see. [She squeezed her eyes shut.]

Tell me, Kip. Do you think it is possible to even get back?

Without help from the same resources that brought you here, I don't...think so.

No, that's... [She looked toward the others, the ones who had already admitted to wanting to go home.] I wish it was possible, for the others. But... it is good for me that it is not possible.

[His expression softens and he reaches for her hand.]

You'll find someplace you can call home. I know it.

If nothing else... [Angel squeezed his hand.] At least I have friends. Have family.
