[Just like the previous week the status quo is restored with frighteningly quick efficiency. PAL still makes the morning and night time announcements through the PIP on each Champion's arm, and still the Champion unitards are freshly laundered and re-hung each morning in their closets. Even the glass roses Choromatsu and Takumi broke after the trial in their fit of anger have been replaced with fresh ones. All signs that there was anything amiss this weekend are completely gone.

There's a new floor to explore, their "reward" for a job well done.]

Hey, it's not like I hadn't been born yet. Some of the older kids, they were into it. And then we'd actually, you know. Try to go find hills to roll down. ...I guess we were kind of weird kids.

It's so funny to think of kids getting so into it... there were plenty of people at school who played all the games but most of them were around my age.

[ She likes hearing him talk about their slight difference in times -- the Japan she's used to is a quiet, dead-ended world, ground to a halt. Junpei comes from a Japan further on than hers still teeming with life and hearing about it is a little bittersweet. ]

Did you ever play any of them? Or were the games not as popular as the songs by then?

Aah, I was too young for the games at the time, and as I got older I think I wasn't that interested... I'd've rather played around outside and gone on adventures, mostly.

So you were more outdoorsy then.

[ it's kind of cute to imagine him as a scrappy little kid, climbing trees, getting himself into trouble. ]

I was the same. It was a bit too packed where we lived for us to have a garden but I used to pester my parents to take me down to the park whenever they had a bit of spare time. I kept telling them I was trying to make them appreciate the fresh air.

I'd kinda go whether they wanted me to or not. I mean, when I was old enough to be out by myself, of course.

[Totally of course. Junpei? Worry his parents to death from a young age? Perish the thought.]

Besides. They always knew I'd be with this one friend...

So they'd always know you were safe? Or at least that you weren't getting yourself into too much trouble.

[ That really is cute. ]

What sort of things did you get up to? Assuming it wasn't actually trouble, of course.

Uh... okay, wait. Do you want to hear that I stayed out of trouble or what I actually got up to? Because I can't answer both.

[ She laughs. ]

That's about what I expected. So, what did you actually get up to?

Iiiii got in fights. Every now and then. I never really knew how to mind my own business.

[serrata]

I guess it's not really a surprise you went and became a detective, then.

[ he's an experienced troublemaker. ]

Did you ever win those fights, though?

[Puts a hand over his heart, even though he doesn't actually feel hurt.]

Ouch. Are you saying you don't have the fullest faith in Marty, Akira, and me?

[serrata]

Of course I do! I believe wholeheartedly in you and your biceps.

[ a beat. ]

But that didn't sound like a 'yes'.

[ ice cold, rii-san ]

A moral victory is still a victory, Rii-san.

[He sounds so pious.]

[serrata]

[ patting his shoulder. ]

I'll take your word for it!

[ you kissed this girl, Junpei. ]

One might argue that it's not losing if I helped someone. Made the world a better place and all that.

[Junpei wouldn't argue that. But someone else might.]
