[Just like the previous week the status quo is restored with frighteningly quick efficiency. PAL still makes the morning and night time announcements through the PIP on each Champion's arm, and still the Champion unitards are freshly laundered and re-hung each morning in their closets. Even the glass roses Choromatsu and Takumi broke after the trial in their fit of anger have been replaced with fresh ones. All signs that there was anything amiss this weekend are completely gone.

There's a new floor to explore, their "reward" for a job well done.]

[ ... Oh, hello. This is... mighty concerning. There's something about that look on Ardyn's face that looks sort of worrying in a way she can't place a finger on. So of course, the best course of action to take is to come and actually see what's going on.

So, Mr. King Sir, don't mind if Yuuri settles herself into a seat opposite. ]

... Good morning, Ardyn-san. [ might as well start off gently enough. ] Are... are you alright?

Oh--good morning, Yuuri. I'm sorry, I'm just...feeling a bit off today, I think.

[ don't be ridiculous, you're making him sound like a real person or something ]

... I know what you mean. Maybe it's just one of those days.

[ does ardyn have "off" days? that honestly sounds like the fakest thing. ]

Maybe it's because we haven't heard anything from you-know-who yet.

[Ardyn glanced to the PIP on his arm, clearly confused.]

Didn't you...did you not hear it?

Hear what?

[ evidently, no. ]

The morning announcement, you mean? I think I slept through it.

No, not that--I'm certain I heard PAL talking about motivating us somehow earlier.

[serrata]

[ ... please do make note of the expression of slowly dawning horror on her face. ]

... He did something to us.

'Something', but I'm not sure what. Are you feeling well right now?

I'm... I think so...?

[ the fact that she said that instead of "yes" is probably sort of telling, though ]

Nothing really feels wrong, but... [ she pulls a face ] I can't really put my finger on it. Something's off.

I'm not feeling quite myself either.

[wasn't he?]

It's difficult to say--I feel fine, just as though something is notably different.

[ she nods. ]

Exactly! Something's... changed. I just don't know what it is.

[ she gives a sigh and rubs a hand over her eyes. ]

And if PAL did this then I'm not sure I want to.

No, neither do I--as harmless as it seems right now, there's little chance of it being truly nothing.

[serrata]

... maybe it'll be like last week again. When he sent out those messages about money or wealth or... whatever it was he was offering everyone. Maybe he was trying to do something and it just didn't stick?

[ let her have some hope before she turns into a giant toku monster ]

It's possible. He'd be quite incompetent were that truly the case, but it's not something we can rule out completely.

[serrata]

... I still...

[ she trails off and furrows her brow. it's something that's been bothering her ever since Friday but there's never really been a point in voicing it until now. ]

I still have to wonder... what was the point of those messages last week? I could understand if he'd sent them to everyone but it didn't seem to be much of a motivator for the people he did pick. You'd think he'd know something like that.

Perhaps he underestimated what he was dealing with. By which I mean to say...clearly he expected at least one of those he contacted to be likely to accept the offer, but it may be as simple as 'he miscalculated'.

[serrata]

It's a little worrying to think about a computer miscalculating something, isn't it?

[ let's hope the next thing he 'miscalculates' isn't something like life support ]

I'm just... I'm glad it came to nothing, in the end. When we found Finn-kun... I was so scared that someone here had decided money was worth that. I was scared of finding out who it was.
