Week 1

[With the introduction to the relationship experiment and their overseeing hosts done with, the Champions are left to their own devices to explore the first floor of the mansion as they please. Cece and Kip will pop-up every once in a while to chit-chat but for the most part they're somewhere inaccessible.

Each morning the Champions are awakened promptly at 7 am by PAL's even, almost laid back voice announcing the time and each evening at 10 pm to announce when the kitchen is closing for the night. Unlike the Overseers, he doesn't seem to be one much for conversation.

[Like any basic white girl, she's thought about it, and now she's on a path where she can get whatever she wants... but she hadn't even gotten it out for herself. It's a way to start people talking, and even if this guy looks like trouble, she at least wants to know what kind.]

Not with the regrets, but I seen plenty of losers fuck up what they asked for and ended up screwed with some pansy-ass design for life.

Nah, it's about art and shit. The way we do it, the ink gets hand-pressed inta the skin by a master. Takes hours just to do a tiny portion, and that's not countin' lining or touch ups. A good tat'll take months or years to finish.

[She grimaces as he describes that process. Machines can go quick and almost painless from what she's heard, pricking ink into skin to make a tattoo almost easy... but maybe something's missing from that.]

So what meant that much to you? [A process that long needs some dedication, if not passion.]

I got a clan of my own, gotta show those punks what it means to be a real yakuza. My boys swear their while damn lives ta me, I gotta wear that proud.

Nah, not quite. We all get tats, but they're different. Some guys get dragons or kirin if they think they're hot shit. Ya can get sleeves or just do yer back or whatever the fuck ya want. Ya just gotta get it done—once yer inked up, that's it. Yer tattoo shows yer dedication to the life. Some guys're just more dedicated than others.

Xactly that. Ain't no goin' back when ya make an oath and join a family. And if yer like me and ya head a clan, then you're really in it.

Kinda personal, but how do you know you're gonna stay in?

Cause ya either die or get killed if ya fuck up that bad. And if yer especially unlucky, they put ya through the kinda sufferin' where ya wish you'd die just ta get it over with.

Nah, a guy like me ain't good fer anything else. Bein' a yakuza lets me make money, get laid, and fight and kill whoever the fuck I want. Ain't nothin' better than that.

[oh yeah, people join gangs because they don't feel like they can do anything else

but Nishitani's motives are also why people want to be rock stars (except maybe the killing part).
She might have heard similar words out of dance classmates about how being famous gets you girls.]

And being the boss gets you there faster. [THIS RAISES SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT HER OWN BOSS OKAY]

Which part? 'Cause the way clan politics go, shit's always interestin'. Some fucker's vying for power, tryin' to take over and fuck over the other families. The way shit moves in the yakuza, shit's never borin' for long.
