[Other than the reappearance of the Overseer, there's no real change in the routine. PAL still makes the morning and night time announcements through the PIP on each Champion's arm, and still the Champion unitards are freshly laundered and re-hung each morning in their closets.

No other floors unlock, but Cece and Kip will still be appearing randomly to chit-chat.

All you know is... something has to change soon.]

...This, uh. This is kind of nice. Making breakfast together with someone for once.

[He doesn't turn from his work as he speaks.]

[ Yuuri does -- she glances up briefly from the bubbling stock to look at him like she's a little surprised. But then her expression warms into a smile and she nods, turning her attention back to the pot and stirring it idly. ]

... It is. It's usually just me doing the cooking at home so this is a nice change.

[ If she could have Kurumi and Yuki here, sat at the table and chattering about everything and nothing... then she'd take it in a heartbeat.

But this might not be so bad either. Not by a long shot. ]

I don't even usually eat breakfast, most days. I don't wake up early enough to make it for myself.

[His chopped onions come out slightly coarse, but not in an unappealing or inedible way. If anyone even notices, it'll be more a reminder that this breakfast is homemade.]

So you do most of the cooking for your club, I guess? The three of you at school.

Most of it, yes. Yuki-chan's not a very good cook [ sorry Yuki but it's true ] so it usually ends up being me. I make that sound like I mind doing it, but I really don't! There's nothing nicer than setting a plate of something you've made in front of someone and seeing their face light up.

[ And Yuki's always a very enthusiastic eater. ]

Do you cook much back home, then?

Ah, ahaha. Nnnnot really.

[He brings the cutting board with the green onions over to her.]

I, uh, end up eating packaged stuff a lot, and cheap take-out... Sometimes I'll make a dinner out of what I can get out of the closest vending machine.

[Mmm. Depression meals. Yum.]

[ She scoots the pot over a bit, moving it off the burner just enough to let him empty those green onions into the broth. ]

Oh, that's not so bad -- in fact, don't tell anyone, but...

[ she leans in and cups a hand to her mouth, dropping her voice into a kind of whisper that implies a shameful confession ]

Whenever I make spaghetti at home, the sauce is always from a packet.

[They're trapped, he's hungover as hell, and Junpei still pops a mock-challenging grin and lowers his voice to respond:]

When I do spaghetti, I don't even make sauce.

[ The most scandalized of gasps. It's so needlessly theatrical she even covers her mouth. It's certainly not so she can hide the fact that she's completely incapable of even faking a straight face. ]

Then what do you eat with your spaghetti? Don't tell me you just eat it by itself?

If I'm feeling fancy, sometimes I'll put popcorn salt on it. Or soy sauce.

Now that's just too far. Completely uncivilized. I'm shocked you even know how to handle a knife, let alone chop anything.

Do you at least know how to check how the rice in a cooker is getting along?

I'm single, not hopeless. My rice cooker is, like, my best friend.

Then would you go ahead and bring it over? It should soften up some more once it boils with the rest of the stock.

[ it's a bigger serving than usual, but she's also made more stock than usual so it... should work out. Hopefully. ]
