[Other than the reappearance of the Overseer, there's no real change in the routine. PAL still makes the morning and night time announcements through the PIP on each Champion's arm, and still the Champion unitards are freshly laundered and re-hung each morning in their closets.

No other floors unlock, but Cece and Kip will still be appearing randomly to chit-chat.

All you know is... something has to change soon.]

Everyone is fine. The worst any of us saw were minor scratches, and the problem was dealt with without much trouble.

...However, the difficult part is that none of us are sure what 'the problem' was, exactly.

[ Yes that's her priority until it hits her that... He's not sure what happened. ]

Not that I'm aware of--we seem to have had everything under control in that regard as well.

It didn't quite...look like anything. More a trick of the light or minor hallucination, except it was very clearly a solid object. I've never encountered anything like it before.

That's good, but also... I'm not sure how I feel about that. That's worrying... Do you think it's still around, just... Somewhere we can't reach?

I'm afraid I don't know. It's either dead or escaped, it's difficult to know which.

If you should see anything like that, try to avoid it--come find me or one of the others, we can manage things from there.

I'm afraid there's no readily available answer for that, either. For now, just be cautious and stay alert.

...Are you doing well, apart from that? I know the past several days have worn on with some difficulty.

...Sir Ardyn? I'm worried about Mai. She said something... after the spirit of this house took over... That worries me.

...That she wouldn't let anything happen to me. And when I asked her to elaborate, she... Said she wanted to protect everyone here. I'm worried... That she might do something reckless.

That could easily be nothing, Clarith. I said much the same, after all--that is no indicator I'm about to do something foolish.

[...But he had to admit that was worrying. Especially when he couldn't get much of a read on Mai's personality or how likely she was to do anything careless. She was a fellow daemon hunter in her own right; that sort of role all but required a self-sacrificial streak.]

If it was just that, I'd agree, but... At the girls' sleepover, we talked and... ...She's a lot like me. She thinks she deserves the treatment she gets... And that's why... I'm especially worried about her.

[ And that's why she's especially worried about Mai, and that conversation had been bugging her this entire time. ]

...It isn't only you. I've been concerned about her since that meeting--being so readily willing to put oneself before others can lead to dangerous predicaments.

...She's a very kind girl. Even if she thinks she isn't. I don't want her to be hurt. And you're... The person I think might have the best chance of protecting her.
