Week 2

[Other than the reappearance of the Overseer, there's no real change in the routine. PAL still makes the morning and night time announcements through the PIP on each Champion's arm, and still the Champion unitards are freshly laundered and re-hung each morning in their closets.

No other floors unlock, but Cece and Kip will still be appearing randomly to chit-chat.

All you know is... something has to change soon.]

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

[ooc: Don't forget to to turn in your AC for week 1 and submit your threads for the Benefactors!]

Perhaps. I don't know what I will do about my sweet tooth, though.

[A slightly wry smile crossed over her lips.]

How could you tell?

[personal profile] myocordial 2017-05-22 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. [He looks away from the sad burnt cookies.] If it makes you feel any better, I think there are many of us here who don't have much experience in the kitchen.

...Plus you kept the burning to a minimum, so you're doing better than some.
brokencode: (looking up is this fear or hope)

[personal profile] brokencode 2017-05-23 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, the kitchen is still in working order. That is certainly more than some of our companions can say.

[Really, saying that out loud was just asking for trouble. And she felt pretty bad that it happened to poor Church in the first place.]

[personal profile] myocordial 2017-05-23 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to say it makes me a little glad I don't really have to eat, so whatever state the kitchen ends up in doesn't really matter to me.
brokencode: (gaspu no hands)

[personal profile] brokencode 2017-05-23 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't... eat? [God, she really needs to start paying attention to these profiles.]
myocordial: (014)

[personal profile] myocordial 2017-05-23 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I can if I choose to. And sometimes I do. But I don't need to, no.

Ah, I thought everyone knew by now, but... I'm not actually human.
brokencode: (hello there)

[personal profile] brokencode 2017-05-23 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? [Without waiting for him to explain further, Angel lifted her wrist, pulling up the list of profiles. She squinted at the phrase there, then looked back to the man with furrowed brows.]

What... is a Royd-mewd, then?
myocordial: (049)

[personal profile] myocordial 2017-05-23 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
The name comes from android mutant. The easiest way of explaining it is that I'm a robot capable of evolving.

My human form isn't exactly my true form, it's just that we're capable of copying the form of an existing human to use.
brokencode: (loud pouting)

[personal profile] brokencode 2017-05-23 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That is... incredible. [Free-thinking A.I. were becoming common in her time, but robots capable of evolution? That was something else entirely.]

So... somewhere out there, there is someone who looks exactly like you, then?
myocordial: (050)

[personal profile] myocordial 2017-05-23 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Hah... I'm glad you think so. I like to think we're quite the amazing species.

[Species, even though they're artificial. The word choice is very deliberate.]

That's correct. Well, it has been some time since I copied his appearance, so he looks older than this now I'm sure.
brokencode: (deep thinkin)

[personal profile] brokencode 2017-05-23 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I am inclined to agree with that statement.

[Calling himself and his people a species struck her as a bit odd, but she said nothing. It wasn't her place to question the ways of his world.]

I see. Does he know that you copied his appearance, then?
myocordial: (025)

[personal profile] myocordial 2017-05-23 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[He hesitates a little.]

He... does not, no. Some Roidmudes, when they choose a human's appearance to copy, may make themselves known or even stay around them. But I never really met the human I copied.
brokencode: (somber look)

[personal profile] brokencode 2017-05-23 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
How... how did that work? Did you just copy him from a distance, or... [A pause] I hope I am not being too intrusive, by the way.
myocordial: (022)

[personal profile] myocordial 2017-05-23 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's fine. Well... I did have to physically touch him to copy him, so I technically was close to him for a brief moment. It was... I believe when he was passing by me as I was hidden. We never spoke and he never knew I was there at all. I... It was fifteen years ago, so I don't remember it very clearly.

[Honestly, this is the most unsure of himself Heart has sounded at any point since he's been ehre.]

...It's a very inconvenient way of doing it. Most of us prefer a more direct approach for that reason.
brokencode: (shock and terror)

[personal profile] brokencode 2017-05-24 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
It seems... very complicated. Thank you for telling me about it, though.

[There was more she wanted to ask, but it could wait until a later date. She had pestered him about his origins enough as it was.]

Well, I would offer you a cookie for all this information, but I doubt you want any of these.
myocordial: (014)

[personal profile] myocordial 2017-05-24 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
[He smiles, seeming a bit more relaxed.] Of course. I don't mind talking about this.

[He loves talking about his species, even if the questions in this case were more personal.]

Ha, no, I don't think I would. I'll just have to take you up on that if you do end up with a successful attempt, hm? Ah, I would offer to help, but to be honest I doubt I'd fare any better.
brokencode: (over the shoulder look)

[personal profile] brokencode 2017-05-24 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
Well... if I have any other questions, I will approach you with them, then. If that is acceptable?

[She did like to learn, after all, and the stories he was telling were practically unheard of even in her time. Perhaps she could go home with new information, or a way to benefit Hyperion.]

It seems very few of us know what they are doing in the kitchen. Good thing we have people like Nari.
myocordial: (046)

[personal profile] myocordial 2017-05-25 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course. Feel free.

[He's not one for keeping secrets at all, so he'll open up about whatever.]

Ha, indeed. I wonder if they specifically brought in a few people with experience on purpose. Though the rest of us can still learn, I suppose. Maybe I'll follow your lead and try to make something at some point...
brokencode: (hello there)

[personal profile] brokencode 2017-05-26 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. I am next to certain they do not want to see us die of starvation, after all. It would, after all, make it hard for us to form bonds on live television.
myocordial: (032)

[personal profile] myocordial 2017-05-28 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
That would put a damper on things, yes. It wouldn't be very interesting for anyone to watch.
brokencode: (i have a serket)

[personal profile] brokencode 2017-05-29 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. I think you may well be onto something, then, Heart. [Despite the somewhat morbid nature of their discussion, Angel pressed a hand to her mouth, muffling an already soft laugh.]
