[Other than the reappearance of the Overseer, there's no real change in the routine. PAL still makes the morning and night time announcements through the PIP on each Champion's arm, and still the Champion unitards are freshly laundered and re-hung each morning in their closets.

No other floors unlock, but Cece and Kip will still be appearing randomly to chit-chat.

All you know is... something has to change soon.]

Whiskey!

[Junpei interrupts himself with a little hiccup, then smiles and hands the bottle up to her.]

Careful. It's the good stuff. Not really good for Queenie's first alcohol, but beggars, choosers, so on.

[Queenie takes the bottle, examines the label for a moment, and takes a swig like a champ.

And nothing happens.

No burning anywhere but her throat, no smoke, no flames, no dizzying rush. Just nice, smooth liquor.

She pouts.]

That's it? Well no wonder you had to drink so much. [And she's going to let herself have one more, significantly longer pull from the bottle before she hands it back.] Just 'cause I ain't had no-maj whiskey before doesn't mean I've never drank sweetheart.

[She's actually pretty good at it.]

[Junpei makes no effort to hide how he's staring as he takes the bottle back, feeling at once put down and impressed all at once.]

What... does magic whiskey do? ...Does it make you magic.

[Queenie is normally a giggly woman and that infectious glee of hers is only going to get worse if you let her have any more of that, Junpei. As it is she is already laughing.]

Now firewhisky ain' my drink of choice but it does give ya a nice kinda all over burn. My favorite's gigglewater though. [Not that she needs some Pinnock's to be a giggly mess.]

[After all, he is familiar with both whiskey and fire, and can see why that would appeal.]

Pinnock's gigglewater... it's uh... bubbly and delicious and clear and

[She pointedly giggles loudly and shrugs.] It makes you giggle.

[If they're going to be having a conversation though, she slides down the wall to sit on the floor next to his stopped little car. And now she's starting to feel a bit warm... oh that is surprisingly smooth and maybe a little dangerous 'cause it doesn't hit as hard and fast as firewhisky. And it's not as light as gigglewater.]

[Intriguing. He is intrigued. He repositions himself in his car so he can face her more directly, open and curious in a way he would never seem if he were sober.]

What's it taste like? I mean... if it's clear, 'sit like a kind of vodka? Though, 's not as if vodka has much of a taste by itself. You get flavors?

Hmm [She reaches out, waggles her fingers toward the bottle. Nope if they're talking they're drinking, come on she has catching up to do.]

's kinda a new thing but it'd be great if they did flavors! Lots of new drinks comin out with the no-majs and their prohibition nonsense.

[Junpei hands it over. He can be a nice boy when he's not being an emo shit. Also, he's drunk and she's pretty.]

[Good boy, Junpei. She'd rather be doing this out of glass but it's hardly the first time she's drank out of a bottle. And it's such a gentle fuzzy kind of burn. It's nice. And a little misleading but she'll figure that out in a few more drinks.]

Oh? Is this an idea that other people know about? Because it seems awful silly to us. We've been completely ignoring it.

[She steals one more drink before she hands it back to him with a giggle.]

The ICW is pretty good at not being stupid. MACUSA? Eeeeh... not so much.

[Junpei looks very thoughtful as he takes a long swig of whiskey.]

[And that matter of fact statement turns Queenie into a giggling mess, slumping against the wall and just laughing until she's flushed and breathless.

She reaches out for Junpei's hand and just squeezes, holding onto his hand until she can catch her breath enough to speak.]

[If Junpei weren't drunk, he might have yanked his hand away. As it is, he just squeezes back, good-humored and friendly.]

How--how does magic government work? There's no magic country, right? Are... do you pay magic taxes?

The ICW keeps everything organized? Uh- International Confederation of Wizards.

MACUSA is the American Wizarding government. Magical Congress of the United States of America. But they still have to answer to the ICW.

Huh. So... kind of like everyone answers to the UN. All the no-maj governments, I mean. ...Mostly.

Does the ICW have... have jurisdiction everywhere?

For somethings, yeah. Statute of Secrecy concerns, mostly. Issues with beasts, dragons and the like. They're the ones that said we should stay outta the war.

But the ICW's laws are worldwide. Mmm, I don't know of anywhere that they don't follow 'em.
