Week 7

[Seven weeks. Seven weeks of friendship and death and bonds between total strangers forming, bending, breaking, and mending. As of Friday the experiment has officially ended as it crowned it's Ultimate Champion, albeit with quite a few more hangers on than the mysterious EP or the Benefactors anticipated. However all of their PIPs are still active and there have been no attempts on their lives from CECE over the weekend.

There are no announcements on Monday.

The surviving Champions (including Xander, the Ultimate Paladin) awaken on Monday they'll find have regained the remainder of their memories from the ones they've lost.

[ooc: welcome to the final week, everyone! There is no AC this week but please make sure you read and comment on the endgame announcement if you haven't already. At this point in the game everyone should be at their true canon point if they weren't already. Hold onto your butts, kids, it's gonna be a bumpy ride out.]

[She had actually gone back to sulk at the table, but looks up when Jamie returns.]

Bolton! I knew the name Temerity sounded familiar but I couldn't place it. [The sheets he just slammed onto the table? Dungeons and Dragons character sheets.] She was his character in our campaign with Max!

[...This is so stupid but it's lit a brief fire under his ass at least.]

...Oh my God.

[Jane just stares. She doesn't know whether to laugh because it is so silly or cry because Chitanda wanted to play this and they never did.]

You're pulling my leg, surely...

Bolton was our DM and Max and I made the absolute dumbest characters we could come up with. [He's talking faster now, spreading out the long forgotten papers on the table and energetically gesturing.] I had a Dragonborn named Seaven the Sorcerer, Max had a monk who was...an owl person? An Aarakocra! Named Father Fisticuffs! And B had Temerity the Tiefling assassin. It was something we did together and it was so stupid. M and I just kept calling Temerity by the dumbest nicknames. Miss T, Temmy, Tem. B got so annoyed every time, he-he...

[Jamie trails off, staring down at the sheets he and the two people he cared about on the ship had poured so many hours into. Two people who were gone now, that he'd never see again. Tears begin prickling at the backs of his eyes and his voice goes softer.]

...And then we lost Max. We didn't play again after that.

[It's actually really sweet to see Jamie so animated, so when he comes down from it all, her heart really does hurt. She's glad to know where the name came from, and surprised that Bolton would choose a girl to play - an assassin at that, in this place! - but that's trumped by an overwhelming wave of concern.]

...Chitanda wanted to play the game, too. We...talked about it, but...never ended up trying it out. [Jane bows her head.] I'm - sorry to dredge up old pains like that.

No...no, it's not your fault, Jane. [He takes a slow, shaky breath and rakes his hands through his hair.] It's just been a long time since I've gotten to really talk about things. [Calm down, Jamie, deep breaths.]

There-there were other things you wanted to ask about, right?

[Dude we need to find you a therapist. Like. The best one in the multiverse. Stat.]

Y-Yeah...um. [She's quiet for a moment, trying to think, which is hard when your heart is full of sad feelings.] This 'EP'. Do you know what those initials are supposed to mean? Or even who they are?

[Fun fact: he used to have one. An outer space kidnapping kind of put a dent in his sessions.]

No but they were always the one who contacted us. We've never heard personally from the Benefactors, it was always EP. So they're either working for the Benefactors or visa versa.

...Speaking of the Benefactors, they...they're the ones who send us all the strange items, and sometimes our own things. So that means all the possessions we had on our persons are being held by them. But...Jamie, how could they have things from our homes? Or items that belong to other people? They shouldn't have had my wizard rabbit, among other things.
