[Well. That was a hell of a trial, wasn't it? About half an hour after everyone returned from the trial they'll receive a note under their door. (Plus Togami gets a new handwriting sample for his book.)]

This is Kurumi. I gathered up some stuff from the diner and kitchen to the Cafeteria. Come if you want. Thought we should be together.

[It's not much. Just a pot of tea, some coffee, and some of that delicious cherry pie from the diner. Get some before it runs out.]

[Jane comes fairly promptly this time, though when she gets to the cafeteria, if it's still up, she'll be standing in front of her own creepy painting.]

[She shakes her head. What is she even supposed to feel right now? Satisfied? Scared for her life? The fuck are feelings this time around. At least with Chitanda, her grief was overpowering and easy to understand. Someone get this girl away from the paintings and into some therapy burning of Twiright's shit.]

I bet Twiright-san would have wanted us to do what he did, though, so maybe if we pour glitter on it instead, he'll be super mad from the afterlife! Though is that safe to burn?

I don't know, actually - but either way, the paint on the canvases can't be safe to burn, and it seems like we're going to end up with a bonfire anyway.

I think it depends on the paint. At least it's not the kind you use on your house. In a closed environment like this, we'd all be poisoned for sure, but I don't know about the art room paints.

...You know what, for our sakes? I'm going to hope it's all non-toxic. I wouldn't mind being a little petty and roasting marshmallows over that kind of fire.

[Either that or they could just set it all on fire in the compactor and watch it burn through the little window before it gets smushed into atomic particles.]

Agreed - though I do feel a bit awful feeling that way, it's...how I feel.

[It made more sense to her to feel bad over Toby and the Griffin, even if she was furious with the former for very good reasons. It was the first time they'd seen what would happen should they do the unthinkable and be caught.]

[She looks at Yurika thoughtfully for a moment.]

...I think...it's possible. With a lot of work, it could happen. But we all have to contribute to that work, don't we?

Jane turns at the touch, registers that it's Kurumi, then looks back at the picture.]

...That'd be just my luck, wouldn't it? I kept carrying on at that...loathsome man throughout the whole trial, and then when this thing gets chucked and destroyed, watch me die with it or something. He'll have infected it with some kind of evil Dorian Grey ridiculousness, for sure.

[Not gonna stop her from donating it to the Great Gay Subtext Bonfire.]

I wouldn't be surprised. Hm...though, if you'd suggested that when we first arrived, I'd say there was no such thing as a jinx.

[Jane shrugs.] It's not completely accurate, but...Dorian Grey is from a story. He sells his soul to be young forever, while his portrait takes on the age and sins of his life. He kills himself by destroying his own picture.

It is pretty creepy, but it's one of those weird little classic tales that ends up catching on and getting adapted to movies. Golly, there's loads...

[Thank goodness for small miracles, ie Jake not making everyone watch ALL the versions when he found out about it.]

Really? That there's loads of movies about the same story? It's not like I've had to watch most of them.

Well, yeah, because you know the creepy part? There's people out there who would force you to watch them in a marathon one right after another.

Oh...ah. Well, that part I know, but thankfully Jake gets bored when he has to watch essentially the same movie over and over again. No, he needs to marathon a whole chunk of his varying collection over an internet stream for twelve hours.

[She's desperately smitten with the silly boy but GOD, she can't make it through more than two movies in a row before she needs to go run around her house and remember that a world exists outside of the stream.]

I think Yuki would get bored, too, but she'd try just to see if the rest of us would go along with it. Though she'd probably get bored halfway through the first movie and then go off to read manga.

I'm not even sure if he stays awake throughout the whole thing. Surely he must doze off at some point. [A sigh.] He is a strange and silly boy, but by gosh, we end up watching the movies with him, no matter how bad they are.
