But am I wrong? You know someone's going to get frustrated enough to do it at some point.

[But not Jane! The challenge is fun and it's not like she's losing money on it.]

Especially if they really want stuff from the prize machine. I've gotten some nice things as well as the rubbish.

I guess...but then again, you can play literally any other game the right way and end up good at it, and get a lot of tokens, and you still come out with the same result.

Isn't laziness the mother of invention?

Maybe, but laziness is still laziness.

Even though it inspires a lot of hard work for less later!

But it's still laziness, I'm going to maintain that.

[And sometimes, you know, it doesn't pan out, like all the failed inventions you see on Shark Tank.]

I wonder why everything from the prize machine costs one coin, anyway? If it were like a normal arcade, from what I've read about them, wouldn't there be different tiers of prizes?

Perhaps. But it's all random in there, right? You could get some useless junk, or something important to you or someone else...or something gross. I guess the factor of chance is what makes it all even out.

So it's more like gambling or those gacha phone games.

[cyan_maid]

I guess so. What's a gacha?

[ratherdoweddings]

It's based on toy capsule vending machines, but the phone games let you draw for characters to add to your teams or clothes for them to wear. Some people spend way too much money on them.

[/looks guiltily at Fire Emblem Heroes]

On your phone, though? It's not like they're physical things you can hold in your hand...

It makes sense when you think of how attached people get to fictional characters.

...Well...if you put it like that, then I guess...I'd totally be guilty of trying to win all of the Ron Swansons.

Oh, is that from a show where you're from? I'll admit I'm not up on all the past entertainment.

[cyan_maid]

It's a character from the absolute best comedy show ever.

[ratherdoweddings]

Really? What's it like? You do seem to know a lot about comedy.

[cyan_maid]

Well, it's about a small town in America and the people who work in its government offices to manage the parks and recreational areas, and all the shenanigans they get into as they work together and get to know one another. Everyone's quirky and unique and different, and they cause a lot of silly friction with each other, but deep down they all care about each other, even when they don't say so.

[ratherdoweddings]

[giggle] That sounds a little familiar. Groups of somewhat strange people who are still the best at what they do, I mean.

[cyan_maid]

Is that so?

[ratherdoweddings]

It sounds a little like us here, for one. And the Nadesico, too.

[cyan_maid]

...I suppose it does sound like us.

[But they didn't have to kill each other in Parks and Rec!]

It'd be nice if we could just live happily. All of us.
