See, I've always been the opposite - stubbornly skeptical, never taking anyone's words at face value. I kind of had to. If I didn't stay alert, my Dad could prank me as easily as we pranked Mister Xander today, or...I could end up killed, as the assassination threats started coming in. But at the same time, I've always tried to dive headfirst into finding out the truth for myself. So...I guess it was more trusting myself before others.

I've always trusted myself, but... I've never been good at working things out that way. I'm the sort of person who's always surprised at the end of a mystery novel.

...I suppose that's a poor trait to have, in a situation such as this one.

...I don't think so. That just means you're not thinking in line with the author of the story. And sometimes, that's what you need to do in order to get down to the nitty-gritty and really solve a problem. There's always merit in that.

Perhaps, but surely you can see why it would seem a weakness.

Only to people who are narrow-minded! That's when you've got to outsmart them - prove undeniably that they were wrong. And you can, it's possible.

[But a weakness...it makes someone a target for sure. Jane knows how that feels.]

...Do you think there's any way I can help you, though, Miss Arianna? If you feel like it's a very glaring problem?

You likely could outsmart this person, but I'm not certain it would be of any help. But... thank you anyway, Dame Jane.
