It was worse than anything you can imagine. She'd do well in staying away from an oven if she doesn't want to commit mass murder with one of her hellish concoctions.

[Togami's not too off about the fatal consequences of her cooking endeavors, since Yurika caused a fire last week that some people thankfully got rid of]

That seems a little much. You make her sound like some sort of demon chef.

If you believe I'm exaggerating, then go ahead and ask her to cook something for you. You deal with the consequences of such a foolhardy request.

Well, since I don't really eat, that would be wasted on me, wouldn't it?

[Listen. He can recognize a potential danger. And he has the best goddamn out of anyone here.]

Consider yourself lucky.

[Still, now that he thinks about it...Togami prods the half-burned rice]

Then what's the point of all this, if you don't even need it?

Technically speaking I can eat if I wish to. But...

[Yeah, that's definitely not why.]

I'm simply trying to learn. It doesn't have to benefit me directly to be a useful skill.

You're trying to learn to...cook for other people?

[What's this nonsense? Basic consideration towards others? The hell is this outrageous concept]

...Is that so strange?

It does feel a tad pointless if you don't get anything in exchange. [Togami shrugs. His cynical thoughts say Heart is doing this to endear himself to everyone so nobody tries to kill him, but he has the feeling that's not the right thing to say] Then again, a lot of people seem to like to do that. I suppose I simply don't understand the appeal of doing such thing just "for the good of one's own heart".

[myocordial]

[Togami, if you voiced that thought Heart would just laugh in your face.

As it is, he simply shrugs.]

We're a group. Anything that benefits the group will inevitably benefit ourselves, if you prefer to look at it that way.

I'm simply used to looking out for others. This is a way of doing that.

[imnotfat]

You? Looking out for others? [He seems kind of surprised about that] Leaving aside your title, you didn't seem to me the type to care about anyone. You even said so when we first met.

[Which, coincidentally, was in a kitchen, too]

I'm not accustomed to looking out for humans. [Which most of everyone left is.] And when we'd just arrived, I had no real investment in any of you.

But I was the leader of my kind and I was responsible for them all, so of course I looked out for them. Seeing as we're in this together, I see no reason not to do the same for those still here.

[imnotfat]

Right, you mentioned not being human too. How many of you are there, exactly?

[Church is a computer AI, apparently, so that makes him unique. If Heart was the leader of his kind, then there must be a lot more than one, he supposes]

My creator made 108 of us, myself included. And his old partner made one by himself, separately.

So 109 total.

[imnotfat]

...tell me you didn't get called 'Heart' because you're the heart of your group.

[108 is not a small number, that's for sure!]

[He chuckles.]

Well. Roidmude names are very... literal. We take them after we've reached our evolution, to better fit our strengths. And sometimes our new appearances as well.

So in a way, that's not incorrect.

[imnotfat]

[Since you don't look like a guy who'd be named 'Heart', it can't be for your appearance, so he supposes it's because of your strength. Strength of heart, huh...sure, that's fine]

I see. I guess I understand. [At least by trying to put it in the most straightforward way possible in his head. It helps to overlook the weirdness factor] Any particular reason by roidmudes look like humans?

[myocordial]

We're capable of synchronizing with humans, copying their appearance and memories. It's a necessary step in our growth.

Not to mention it would be very inconvenient to walk around looking obviously out of place, wouldn't it?
