I tried to read a book about it, but I'm not a cognitive theorist, you know? Or a theoretical physicist. Or... any kind of theorist. Except maybe a conspiracy theorist. Except with me, it's not theory, it's just my life.

I've always tried to be a hard facts kind of girl myself, so when you get into this muddy area of maybe and suppose, it gets really tricky to navigate.

Like mister or miss, or 'Dame' like Arianna. It's, I dunno, more widespread in Japan, I guess, so when someone doesn't show proper respect, it's more obvious? Especially if you're using someone's given name instead of their family name.

[These hash browns are probably done, right? Time to lift the basket out of the oil. I am assuming that is how these are cooked at McDonald's, I've never worked at McDonald's.]

No, no no. I only brought it up to point out that I speak really casually. I'm pretty close to rude, actually, in Japanese. But I also speak English, so hearing you call me Mister all the time is sort of... well, it's got a different valence, right? That's the sort of thing you call your teachers or your parents' friends. I'm not that old.
