[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.

[ She grins and puts a finger to her lips. ]

Your secret's safe with me. Or it would be, if you'd said anything.

[ See? She's trustworthy. Probably.

Out of the bag comes one of those cute little boxes and, still smiling, she holds it out for him to take. ]

Here. It's not as nice as I'd usually like to make Valentine's chocolate look but they should taste just fine.

[His fingers pause before they reach the box.]

It--you made honmei choco?

[WhhhHHHhhoooahahahooahaoah. Junpei stares, then closes his mouth and takes the box, and he suddenly looks very much his age--younger, maybe. Her age. A student. Feeling kind of warm, he clears his throat and smiles, trying for teasing and not quite making it.]

I had no idea you felt that way about me.

[serrata]

[ Yuuri blinks at him and for a moment all she feels is just... pleasantly flustered? A nice little flutter in her stomach and her throat and even in the instant before she laughs at him, there's already a warm smile on her face. ]

No, no! Not exactly! [ and -- is she red in the face? she's red in the face, but it's a nice sort of blush even if she's not sure how she feels about the fact that she's blushing in the first place. ] It's...

[ She doesn't want to say it's giri choco because nothing about any of this was an obligation. But honmei isn't quite right either. ]

I guess it's a thank you. Today's for showing appreciation as well as all the rest of it, right? So that's what I'm doing.

...Awwww.

[As much fun as he's making, something in his chest is genuinely touched. Thank you. How often has he heard that over the past year? Not very often.]

Well, thanks. I'll gladly accept your arigachoco. Though I hope you don't mind my crossing my fingers that we'll be out of here and home free by White Day.

Absolutely not. In fact, we'll go ahead and say you getting out of here safe and sound is your White Day present to me. That means you don't have a say in it.

[ Not that a promise like that is going to do much for either of them if push really does come to shove. But it's... nice. Nice to voice some sort of confidence that they'll all be getting out of her just fine. ]

Does that sound fair?

What? Come on, I'd get us all out of here for free. That's more like a birthday party favor than a White Day present, you can do better than that.

[He doesn't like it, the way she says 'you' and not 'we.' We will all get out of here by White Day. That's the only way anyone really gets out at all.]

Something equivalent to a handmade thank you chocolate. I guess I'd have to make you something in return, huh?

I guess you would. It'd be rude to ask what you're considering, wouldn't it? But now you've got me curious. I can't remember the last time I had a handmade return gift on White Day.

[ Come to think of it, she's actually not completely sure she ever has gotten anything handmade back. There's been store bought gifts and chocolates and that sort of thing but she can't remember a handmade return gift. ]

Well, it'll depend on what materials I have on hand come March, but...

[He's actually thinking about it now, and puts a hand to his chin so he can stare at the ceiling for inspiration.]

...Do you like puzzles?

[serrata]

I guess I like them as much as the next person does. Oh, it depends on the sort of puzzle, though. I'm not bad with numbers and word puzzles but I've put together so many jigsaws, I've lost count.

[misanthropicprinciple]

What about a puzzle you take apart instead of putting together? A little challenge makes opening presents even more fun, don't you think?

Hm, so I have to really earn it? That sounds like it might be fun.

[ and god knows, all of them are going to need some fun after this. ]

I'll get working on it right away. You know, I've never made a puzzle before. Always the codebreaker, never the coder.

[To his knowledge, anyway.]

I'll have to make sure to get it right.

Alright then. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Just promise you won't go easy on me, alright? I'm good enough at putting jigsaws together, so I can't imagine taking something apart is that much harder.

Exactly. If you think you can get away with pulling any punches on me, then you're going to have egg on your face when I get it apart in five minutes flat.
