week 2
[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.
Enjoy your week, Champions.]
(( Also, don't forget to submit your AC and item rolls! You can also bother your Overseer here. ))

[ ... well, maybe Arianna-- okay, that's mean ]
Besides, what sort of trouble are we expected to get into? Most of the shops shut at night, don't they?
no subject
[What next, are they gonna appoint the roombas as guards too? Let's just throw in all simpler machines for this, why not.]
Yes. And I was under the impression that trouble was encouraged. But now suddenly it's a problem if we wander around.

[ Someone's got to be reviewing all that security footage, after all. ]

[ She folds her arms across her chest and peers up at the nearest camera, eyes narrowed. ]
It makes you really think, though. Who exactly is 'them'?
no subject
[And he hopes they're hearing that, whoever and wherever they are.]
...Whoever they are, however, it seems they don't have a lot of faith in our Overseer.
no subject
[ The sass from before is gone and now her voice is softer and more thoughtful. ]
Why let him do this for them if they don't have any faith in him?
no subject
If they truly don't have any faith in him, I doubt they would let him do something actually important. Either they feel they have this under control enough that it doesn't matter what Xander does, or perhaps they don't actually consider this important.
[...Neither is good news for them, but he knows which option he'd put money on.]
Either way, I expect he's just as much of a pawn to them as we all are.

[ She gives him the faintest hint of a smile and then goes back to staring down the camera, like she might be able to get an answer from it if she intimidates it enough. ]
Maybe he's just disposable. I mean... if something happens here and someone managed to get the jump on an Overseer, they wouldn't want to risk sending someone actually important. Right?
no subject
[He glances at his PIP for a moment. Yeah.]
No, I don't think they really care if he dies here.
no subject
It says something about his employers and Yuuri's not sure she likes the implication. ]
Do you think they have even more people like him, lined up to take over if something happens? Even more people so desperate they'd agree to run something like this?
no subject
I've seen plenty of people in my time who would jump at the chance.

[ She swallows hard and then lifts a hand to her mouth to start nibbling at the skin around her thumbnail, so her next words come out muffled. ]
If I knew something had happened to Ruu-chan and someone just turned up one day and somehow they could just make it all go away... it makes me wonder just what I'd be able to talk myself into doing.
no subject
I've been at the level of desperation before where I might have considered it, even if everything about this goes against everything I believe in. [Not for one person, not ever. But for 108? Maybe.] ...I don't think I ever would.
But we don't always know ourselves as well as we like to think.
no subject
But then she gives a soft huff of bitter laughter. ]
I suppose we don't. Especially not with almost an entire year gone.
