[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.

That's... what we're worried about. It's so familiar. And yet... that dumb Overseer doesn't seem like anyone Junko Enoshima could have known...

So how... did it expand this far? Did... the broadcast really reach s-space? If that's the case... then it's our responsibility to stop this b-before it goes any further.

Junko Enoshima--is that who put you through all of that?

...yes. Junko Enoshima... was my classmate. B-but she's also the person who turned the place that should have protected us into the place where so many killed and then got killed in turn...

And... she said it was broadcasted to the whole world, wh-while we were inside that school. We... didn't know that until a lot later though.

We... all went to Hope's Peak because we had an "Ultimate" skill. She had one too, but-- the name she really came to be known by was the "Ultimate Despair". Her and her followers... because of them our world is all fucked up.

She wanted to see the countries best students kill one another while the world watched to spread despair among the people.

...d-doesn't make sense right? W-well she's not... right in the head.

[ Wow. She'd probably have a damn field day with Ardyn. ]

For someone to run something like that? With-- kids? No kidding. She sounds like a real piece of work.

So you and Togami survived... What happened to her, then?

Six of us g-got out in the end. But... th-that's only because she died. To get out we had to b-beat her at her own game. And we... watched her execute herself wh-when she was caught b-breaking her own damn game.

[ Noctis grits his teeth. He's angry--angry that someone would do that to people she's spent time with. People she's gotten to know. He's angry that someone like Touko had to go through that.

Noctis is angry... but he quietly pulls her into a hug. ]

[--is all she manages before she's pulled into a hug. This isn't the first time, but it still surprises her. Before now she'd never had this kind of physical affection from anyone but Komaru and even that was still... new. She's learning a lot in a short period of time and it feels surprisingly natural.]

...that's why... I want to do everything I can to make sure this doesn't become another Hope's Peak. I d-don't want to see anyone go through the horrors we did. It was... it was horrible...

[For the first time since this all began the strong facade she'd put up starts to crack a bit and tears dot the corner of her eyes.]

[ And he holds her that much tighter. Not enough to hurt, but... gods, he feels so terrible for her. That's too much for any one person, to watch so many people die. To have to... have a hand in some of it.

It's too much. ]

Yeah. I know, Touko. [ He strokes her hair, gently. He's here. ] Touko--I'll do everything I can to stop this. I don't know if I can guarantee anything, but I'll do what I can.

No one should have to suffer like this.

[She can't remember ever being held so tightly. The feeling that comes to mind is suffocating, but what's in her heart doesn't match what her head is screaming. Right now she can't move; couldn't possibly hope to fight it--

But instead of shakily pushing away, her arms rise awkwardly and her hands bury into his shirt and she stays. Pinpricks in the corner of her eyes turn into a small stream of tears as she remembers horrific death after horrific death that she witnessed in that school.]

Th-that's why I have to keep trying... I-If I stop for a minute I can see you, Clarith, Ardyn, Arianna, Yuuri, Nari, Choromatsu... I can see it happening to any one of you. If this game starts I don't... I don't know if I can b-be the kind of person that can stop it. I'm afraid... afraid I won't be able to save anyone if that happens...
