week 2
[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.
Enjoy your week, Champions.]
(( Also, don't forget to submit your AC and item rolls! You can also bother your Overseer here. ))

There are people out there more upset than I am. Save your breath for someone who's really going to need it. Me? I'll be fine. [He took a breath, only to find that the discomfort had been replaced with a twang of guilt.]
It's not that I don't appreciate it. But I know myself well enough to promise that I'm not going to be bashing heads in this week in order to keep this from spreading. We don't know that about the others.

And everyone is very determined to insist that they don't need anything. That's your choice, of course. I'm not asking for anything more than this conversation. I just wanted...
[He stops himself for a few seconds. To collect his thoughts, maybe. Or maybe just because the subject is... difficult.]
If you want to know "why", it's simply because I can... relate. That's all.

That said, Varric is still uneasy being the one comforted. It's easier to focus on the way Heart pauses, or the similarities that he so carefully brings up. At least that was something Varric felt he could manage.]
Did your note say something similar, then?

[The envelope is still sealed. But not destroyed, either.]
Mostly because I suspect it does indeed say something along those lines. I could say it's a matter of principle, but really I simply prefer not to have the words staring me in the face.

Could be a little cathartic for the both of us.

...And this place has a way of putting one in a destroying sort of mood.
[Things, not people. Well. Some people. Like Xander maybe.]

[Varric takes a long swig from his bottle, and then starts off toward the food court. He stops after a few feet just to be sure that Heart is following.]
Flavortown is our best bet, I think.

[And Heart follows him there, of course. If nothing else, maybe this will prove a little cathartic.]

Why don't you start us off, huh?

[And Heart does pull out the envelope. He looks at it, at first, but there's really nothing to consider here. There's nothing good that could come out of this envelope. Nothing he cares to read.
He tosses it into the flames.]
Good riddance.

Feel any better?

[Heart, on the other hand, just stares at the remains of the paper, burning away.]
Perhaps some small amount of vindication for refusing to play along with this ridiculous game. But I'll take it.
