[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.

I find that burdens are far lighter when they're shared. Besides, I am used to looking out for people.

[He didn't get the title of Champion of Compassion for nothing. Being the Team Mom for a whole species tends to go a long way.]

It does explain that, yes. Though we'll make it work out. I think everyone here, at least, has more to worry about than how human you are. Which I'm sure doesn't make this easy on you, of course, but it's something to remember.

It's less about how human I am than it is about the specifics of what I am. Vampires... they feed on human blood, Heart. It's really common for the victim to die from it, and sometimes they even come back as vampires themselves. Maybe some humans want that kind of immortality, but most are terrified of... of my kind.

[It's still so hard to acknowledge that vampires are indeed "his" kind. Will this really become easier with time or sharing, or will the burden just become heavier and heavier the longer he fights it?]

People are easily controlled by fear. But so far, they have all been... understanding. And they will be of this, too, I hope.

...If they are not, then I suppose there will be problems, but I can at least promise you that my opinion of you will not be affected.

That's all I can ask, Heart. I appreciate it, though. Maybe I can feel a little better about myself if I know at least one person believes in me.

Of course. Our situations may be very different, but we're both not human. So we should be there to support each other.
