week 2
[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.
Enjoy your week, Champions.]
(( Also, don't forget to submit your AC and item rolls! You can also bother your Overseer here. ))

[ardyn for god's sake.]

A retainer already has enough risk in his or her duties. Any lord willing to play games with them in such a way shows a shocking irresponsibility.

[If the anger was meant to scare Ardyn, it missed the mark by a few hundred miles. He rolled his eyes with a quiet laugh, as if recalling some long-faded memory with a faint nostalgia.]
He never was much for humor. Perhaps I was irresponsible at times in my long-lost youth, but it was he who tempered that with restraint and gravity. And if one can not share their heart with those who would seek to guard it, then one is a poor excuse for a lord from the very start.
One can not lead others while forcing distance between himself and those who share his kingdom. A true king shows love and compassion, always--from the lowest peasant to the greatest enemy.
Perhaps it is you who is irresponsible, if you fail to comprehend that.

And all that is left is grief. Open and bare and too much for him to hide. ]
Perhaps you are right. Love not shared is love lost once you're dead. Either way, it doesn't matter now.

[But he settled for the reaction he'd gotten, taking some faint satisfaction in it. He wasn't the king, after all. There was no obligation to feel sympathy for Xander, and Ardyn certainly wasn't about to try.]
I find that few things do--Your Highness? [The mockingly pleasant tone was back in Ardyn's voice as a smile broke through the chilled demeanor, taking a shot in the dark to see where it might land.] I wager you've quite some growing up to do before 'Your Majesty' applies, if my assumption is not far off the mark.

You're not wrong, though odds are my father is no longer on the throne either. If the world is kind then my sister is now Her Majesty, though her heart is not in rulership. My younger brother, perhaps.

So no worries there.

Oh, thank heavens for that. Imagine how terribly awkward that might have been.
