[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.

[It takes the Doctor a long moment to answer, the door swinging open to greet Yurika witj the sounds of DJ Roomba's music. The Doctor leans out, looking too brightly casual for it to be natural.]

Oh, Misumaru! Hello. Sorry, don't mind the music, just trying to do a bit of work on some of the equipment from Universe. Well, tinkering a bit with the onboard software, seeing how universal the connectivity is. Well, much as I can from here, you'd need more specialized equipment to really dig in, more than we've got on hand here.
Well, I say more specialized, I really just mean more advanced, this stuff's pretty cutting-edge but still basically equivalent in functionality to devices you'd find on Earth in the early twenty-first century. Bit odd, that, considering some of the other tech on display here. I mean even aside from the PIPs and the Juggaurdalobots, have you noticed that capsule machine, the one in Flavortown, it's got things in it that really shouldn't properly fit in there, that's dimensionally transcendental engineering if I've ever seen it and I've seen it a good bit more than most people believe me-

[He hasn't really stopped for breath during all this, maybe do something about that?]

Of course, I mean, we're still trapped here, we're being blackmailed, Cruz-san is going around saying he's a monster, there's poor Yuuri-san's situation to consider, but other than that, it's...

[Yurika lets out a small sigh, a little less cheery than normal.]

I just wanted to let you know that some of us can understand that.

[He looks at Yurika carefully for a moment before dropping his head, letting out a humorless breath that didn't quite manage to be a laugh.]

Yeah. I suppose you would, if anyone could.

...Champion Peacekeeper. Have you ever seen war, then, Misumaru?

[She nods sadly.] My ship, the Nadesico, was just put together to try and save the surviving colonists at the Utopia Colony who were abandoned by the UEAF in its move to centralize around Earth during what I suppose you could call the Jovian War. But in the end, we couldn't. When I last remember, we were doing what we could to stop the war instead.

I made a stupid, selfish mistake, and while it did lead us to the colony, it also led the Jovians there. They cornered us, all while the colonists were telling us to leave them behind because they didn't believe we had the ability to save them. We let one representative on to talk things over, but when the Jovians came...

[She shuts down, tempered enough not to shake.]

[Awkward Champion hug? Awkward Champion hug. Cause he might not have the full story, but boy does he know this feeling.]

I know you tried. It's not your fault things went wrong.

[Yurika hesitates, but shakes her head and hugs back just as awkwardly.]

I know I couldn't give any other order. I tried that. But if... It's like that for you, right?

[Yurika takes in a breath and nods slowly.]

I'm so sorry. It's hard to... just to believe there's still hope.

[He clears his throat.]

But trust me, I've seen hopeless. All this? Is still pretty far from hopeless.

You're kind of a happy person, aren't you? I know how it is, at least to try to be.

[Haha yes, this happiness is definitely genuine and in no way a facade stretched across a yawning abyss of self-loathing.]
