[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.

Yes, I thought I would try some of the more unusual recipes. I've never heard of combining coffee with peppermint.

...what is it that you're working on, exactly?

[serrata]

It's a calendar. Tenmyouji-san said his birthday passed the other day, so I thought it might be a good idea to use that as a jumping-off point for keeping proper track of the days.

[ ... then she pauses. this. might be a problem for Arianna, huh? ]

They're days from our calendar, though, I'm afraid. Is that going to be a problem at all?

If most of us here use the same calendar, it would be best for me to learn its workings.

So, today is the twelfth of February. [A nice, normal, twenty-eight-day month, it appears.] ...what part of the year is that?

[serrata]

[ oh honey, ]

It's the second month. I think it's technically the last month of winter, as well. So once February ends and March comes around -- that's the third month -- we'll be getting into spring.

[daughterofthemark]

So... sometime in Dormouse or Taurus. For me, nearly a year has passed.

[She's trying.]

[serrata]

[ Yuuri's a little distant for a moment before speaking up. ]

It's about the same for me. It makes you wonder what exactly we're missing, doesn't it?

[daughterofthemark]

It is quite a lot of time. Enough for a situation to change significantly.

[Sigh.]

[serrata]

[ She sighs and turns her gaze back to the calendar. ]

And we don't even really know what the date could mean here. It just means it's February... wherever we are. But we've all come from different times, so our personal timelines might not even match up.

[daughterofthemark]

...I'd never considered that possibility. But you are correct--if we aren't all from the same time, why would we all be from the same part of the year?

[...but this is getting awfully close to sounding like "no, none of Rii-san's hard work was worth anything" and even if Arianna was willing to believe that she wouldn't want to say it.]

Still, at least we can keep track of events here.

[serrata]

We can. And maybe with this, we can start doing things like planning meetings or events or whatever else we need to do in advance. That way we don't have to organize everything at the last minute.

[ she gives Arianna a little smile. chin up, princess! ]

Keeping the days busy is the best thing we can do in here.

Yes, we'll be considerably more organized this way.

[Perking up a little. REMEMBER WHEN ARIANNA COULD CHEER UP?]

The guards may follow a schedule as well.

[serrata]

That's a good point... I hadn't thought of that.

[ She gives another little hum and peers at the grid of dates. ]

Do you feel like doing a bit of observing for me, Arianna-chan?

[daughterofthemark]

[Arianna peers at it, too, as if expecting it to reveal Yuuri's thought process.]

Not at all. Observing what, precisely?

[serrata]

Those robots. You're good at getting out of their way if you have to and it sounds like you've got a good eye for this sort of thing. Do you think you'd be able to keep an eye on them and tell me what they get up to at night?

It doesn't have to be very often -- and it doesn't have to be for the whole night, either. I just want us to get a better idea of what they're doing when the rest of us are in bed.

[daughterofthemark]

...am I particularly skilled at that? [Yes, Arianna, you are. Somehow.] But I would be glad to. I'll study their activities carefully.

[serrata]

Just promise me you won't get yourself into trouble, alright?

[ ah, the Stern Nee-san voice. ]

I don't think they'd do anything to hurt you, but don't even give them a chance to try.

[daughterofthemark]

You have my word. They'll never know I was out and about at all.

[yeah, arianna's definitely the one who needs to make that promise...]

Good.

[ And then, without really thinking anything of it, Yuuri reaches out and pats Arianna on the head. ]

I'm counting on you, okay?

[Oh, that feels... familiar. Like someone else has done this before, though she can't think of anyone who would fit.

She likes it.]
