[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.

[ Yuuri doesn't look anything but impatient when she snatches the envelope. There's no one at home to even broadcast her secrets to and those that are left know Yuuri better than Yuuri knows herself.

So she's not thinking of herself when she rips the envelope open. She's thinking of the School Living Club President, what she'd done to protect Takeya Yuki's heart. Maybe that's the secret they think she'd kill to keep.

It isn't.

The note is so short. Only five words but it's enough to make Yuuri turn white as the paper she's holding and draw in a long, slow, painful sounding breath. ]

... What? This can't-- I don't--

[ her hands start to shake and she looks up at Xander with wide, glossy eyes. ]

Wh--what the hell is this supposed to mean?!

[ She flips the paper over in her hands like there might be more on the back to explain. But no -- no matter how many times she reads, it's the same message in clear, careful handwriting but it never begin to make sense. ]

... as soon as I got here, I asked you-- I asked you where she was and you told me she was safe!

[ Her voice ratchets upwards in volume and pitch so fast it's almost startling -- she sounds like a woman halfway to working herself into hysterics. ]

You looked me right in the face and you lied to me!

Yuuri- [oh hell does yuuri need to be physically held back from lunging at xander]

[ sh--she kind of does?? please don't let her lunge right at him, because she sure looks like she's about .2 seconds from doing it ]

[ She seems to reach a level of indignance that silences her for a moment and she's panting like she's just run a marathon. But then she spits one last thing out and her voice breaks as she says it; ]

[he doesn't want to do this. This isn't knowledge that he should be baring. But he knows this familiar pain deep in his soul, and circumstances have pushed his hand]

[ She'd been with Shino-san. She remembers that much, as clearly as if it happened yesterday. The hallway in St. Isidore Academy, the watery dawn light spilling in through the window, Shino sat there and Yuuri was

her stomach lurches before the train of thought can even finish but she doesn't need it to. She claps a free hand to her mouth, certain she's about to vomit and she sags back against Ardyn because suddenly, her legs aren't quite strong enough to keep her standing. It's only the fact that her eyes are painfully wide and fixed on Xander that make it clear she hasn't just fainted. ]

Sh--she was in the classroom...! I heard her voice-- Ruu-chan was calling for me and I... I...

[ She shakes her head and presses her hand even tighter against her mouth. Like's she's afraid the truth will fall out if she dares say anything more. ]

[Without thinking, Ardyn brought his other arm around Yuuri’s shoulders to steady her]

Yuuri. You’ll get no answers from him. Take a breath, we can determine the truth without his ‘help’.

[ She does indeed take a breath but it's just a thin, miserable little noise. She doesn't look like she's at any more risk of throwing herself at Xander but she also doesn't look like she's going to be much good for anything else today, either. ]

[Arianna steps in closer, too, taking her hand.

And not saying anything, because she doesn't know what to say. It's a shitty feeling.]

...I'm sorry. But my notes were not clear between one Ruu and the other, so I... made an assumption. But not once since this started have I knowingly lied to any of you.
