[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.

That's the one. I think he's mad because I didn't file at least three petitions to change the color of our residence, nor did I request a hanging permit.

[He very nearly felt himself gag.]

You know, I thought being here would get me away from the paperwork and bureaucracy.

Well bully on him! It's not like the kiosk is all his own to decide. He's got to suck it up and share.

That's what I was thinking. Unfortunately, he's still young. Probably hasn't gotten a grip on how to be a respectable adult just yet. Hopefully he'll learn.

You think so? I'm fairly certain he is older than me, and I'm not about to encroach on Miss Clarith's side of the kiosk with wrapping paper...

Well, in all fairness, I did decorate the whole kiosk. But only the outside, and only because he hadn't done it yet.

That? That is exactly what I was thinking. I can't be blamed for not wanting to live in an undecorated piercing station for however long we're stuck here.

[She finds herself chuckling a little at that - hers had been born more from screwing around with Xander at first, but it would become woefully bleak if they kept things as they were.]

No, definitely not! I certainly wouldn't!

[Her laugh is enough to start up a rumble within Varric's chest, and does little to reduce the delighted glimmer in her eye. Despite how wrong this whole world felt, there was still something very right about bringing a smile to someone's face.]

You know, we could always combine forces again. Figure I owe you, for helping me find my away around that first day.

[It's honestly not easy to laugh or really, genuinely smile, but...she's getting there. Slowly, without her even realizing, she's climbing back up to the person she used to be.]

Combine forces...for improving our decor situation? I wouldn't mind that.

Decor, or annoying the living hell out of our friends. For fun.

[Mostly for fun, at least. If they drove Xander to end the program through their antics, Varric certainly wouldn't complain.]

[Oh boy, waaaay ahead of you on that front. Just wait until she gets a My Son out of the gacha.]

For fun, of course! I can do that - it's a Crocker family legacy to prank the dickens out of the people you love.

[Wanna shake on it, Varric? Jane offers her hand to shake.]

Sounds like I was born into the wrong family then.

[If Varric were from a later era, he might have thought twice about shaking the hand of this beloved prankster. But since he has no idea what a joy buzzer is, he eagerly takes her hand.]

I can't wait to see what kind of mess we manage to cook up.

[Lucky for him, Jane is without a buzzer or her sylladex to slip one into her hand. His hand is met with hers, and a surprisingly firm shake for such a little lady.]

Oh, it'll be one for the record books, I'm quite sure.

[Very lucky for him. He wouldn't know what to make of her magic hands.]

Scribes will write about it for ages. This one in particular.

Oh? Are you a writer as well? [She knows Touko's a writer, but this is new.]

I absolutely am. I'd offer you some of my work, but unfortunately our good friend in the office has neglected to provide us with any reading material.

[He looks... surprisingly upset about this, to be honest.]

If anything, we have plenty of writing material...I'd be happy to see anything new you happen to create instead.

[And who knows, maybe they'll get a space bookstore soon, or actual books out of the gacha.]
