Week 2

[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.

That man won't just keep letting people make escape attempts.

No, of course not, but...something else, maybe. Something different than blowing a physical hole through a wall.

There's no way we're getting passed that gate...

Maybe we can't, physically? But we could get other things out through it. Like...messages.

Someone has to receive those messages for that to work.

While that is true, the fact is that we don't know whether or not there is someone to receive the messages. If we send some out, at least we're making an attempt to reach a listener.

And if the message falls into the wrong hands?

Then it's got to be a message that isn't going to mean much from the outset. You send tests out first - nonsense, or greetings, and if they get a response, you go from there.

What if the person replying is just humouring us? For example, if Xander pretend to be someone wanting to help to get information.

...Then we'd have to really vet the things we send out and receive. There's...always risk involved with doing something like this, but even if it was him, we're not actively destroying anything - therefore, we're not breaking his rules. There's nothing against sending messages.

Provided he doesn't take advantage of rule 9, of course.

[She's cheerful.] Just...Just be careful. After the other day...

...That's true.

[She nods. She'll be careful - careful is her middle name!

...Have you spoken to him yet? I tried, he just kept telling me it didn't concern me.

...I have.

[And she keeps speaking to him. And keeps going to him. And it hurts every single time and she needs to stop.]

He's not exactly informative.

Not at all. I'm not sure if we'd be able to trick him either.

Now that remains to be seen! Just because someone keeps their cards close to their chest doesn't mean they don't make mistakes from time to time.

So you're saying that we should keep badgering the man whose fully capable of killing us?

[cyan_maid]

In ways he doesn't have rules against, yes. He can keep narrowing our options, but that only means we get more specific in turn.

... You're persistent. [She sighs. Her mouth twitches briefly into an almost smile before going back to frown.]

I won't be able to help you much with this, I'm normally on the other side of such questions. But if you need anything... [Well, there's not a lot she can do and she's a recluse most the time but eh.]

Ah...

[That's...surprising. She hadn't expected Natsuhi to offer help, mostly because she was so elusive. Still, Jane smiles in response.]

Goodness..well, thank you so much! If there's anything you can do, I'll come and ask, alright?

[Jane's automatic response is to say, "Really? Why is that?", but considering Natsuhi's...everything? She catches it back.]

That's...um, all you need sometimes, you know? An attempt. And sometimes that makes more of a difference than anything else.
