Week 2

[It's been about a week since the Champions woke up in their new consumerist hellscape of a temporary home and, despite a few odd goings on and the bomb incident with Church and Nari, things haven't been as bad as they could be. No one is even dead yet! But let's see how long that lasts.

... Bits and pieces. I remember her face and her voice and... I remember how small she was.

[ It's her turn to go a little far away. Her eyes have settled on the middle distance and she's not looking at where her gaze as fallen but she's seeing that sickly hot summer morning, the last time she saw her baby sister alive. ]

She was a lot younger than me... nearly ten years, I think. But even for a little girl that age, she was small. Her summer uniform for school had a little yellow sunhat with it but even the smallest size we could find for her used to blow off in a strong breeze.

And she'd go chasing off after it. The amount of time she made me sick to my stomach because I'd turned away for a second and she'd wandered off to do something or other...

[ She doesn't smile, exactly, but something in her eyes warms a bit. ]

I guess you could say she was a bit of a troublemaker. But I didn't mind.

You've been practicing hard, haven't you? Did you ever make chocolates like that at home?

[ such a happy princess... this is good. she wants this princess to be happy. ]

I didn't cook complete dishes often, but I always enjoyed making sweets!

Or they just wanted to rub some salt into the wound. Which one do you think's more likely?

[She kind of flinches at that question. She would love to believe Yuuri is wrong and someone just wanted to be nice, but... even she has to admit the context doesn't really support that.]

Valentine's Day is -- well, it's different from place to place, but where I'm from, women were supposed to give chocolate to the men in their lives! Only the person they're in love with got the heartfelt homemade ones, though. Friends and coworkers get store-bought. Though sometimes if you were obligated to give some to someone you hated, you'd just give them the stale, broken ones.

[ She's got a proud little grin on her face -- the sort of smile someone wears when they're getting away with something they feel like they should be getting in trouble for. She still looks too worn out and her eyes are a bit too dull for it to really shine but she's making an effort, at least. ]

I've not been beaten to the punch already, have I? [ she's feeling around in that bag 'o chocolates as she asks. ] I feel like everyone else got a head start on me.

But if we do find something like it, I hope we can figure out how it works. Getting stuck because we dont understand the technology wouldn't be fun.

If it is mine, though, it'd incorporate these weird dark blue jewels. Or it'd look like a giant metal tulip bud, if you can't see the jewel. In that case, please don't let anyone try to use it until I'm there. It's very dangerous!

People are easily controlled by fear. But so far, they have all been... understanding. And they will be of this, too, I hope.

Truly? Now that is a useful side effect. Perhaps eventually we'll find a way to see more of this place and we'll find an instrument store.
