week 1
[After the reveal of their handsome and well-dressed but stern-looking Overseer on Sunday, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the mall to their hearts' content. At around 10 pm every night the lights in all the shops will go down and the sturdy metal grates over the doors of the restaurants will go down. The stores will remain unlocked, though.
On Monday morning, a buzzing alarm chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot. There's also a pop-up message waiting for them: a notice announcing Xander will be holding office hours
Enjoy your week, Champions.]

[Unbeknownst to this ginger her sister was trained as an assassin. Welp.
She shakes her head.]
Not when you explain it. I'm not a fan of religion, so I haven't made the acquaintance of that particular god lover yet.

[Everybody has weird family. He's used to it by now.]
Me neither. My faith is between the Maker and myself. That's it. [He shook his head quickly. He doubted that Nari wanted to have a discussion about faith right now. Or ever.]
I've only spoken to her once. Don't know if I want to make a habit of it, either. Not a fan of people that preach benevolence toward the people that have wronged me directly. That's all.

[Seriously. Sis is painfully gay.]
Mm... I agree with you there. Don't tell me who to forgive, that's between me and that person. And I'm not good at forgiving.

[And thus, Nari was given a name.]
Shit, kid, you must be my descendant or something. [Varric couldn't help a laugh, even if it was tight and rife with bitterness.] I've spent most of my life holding onto the bad shit that's happened to me. I don't need some kid to tell me when to let it go.

[That's so cute!!! She'll take it.]
I'm... very good at holding things in. It's like an art at this point.

[He's pretty proud of it tbh.]
If I were a hypocrite, I'd tell you that it's not good to hold shit in. And if I were a nosy man, I'd say you can talk to me at any point.
Good thing I'm not either of those things.

[Ahahahahaa..... that's a joke.]
Hm. You're a good dude, Writer. I appreciate someone who knows not to pry in a woman's affairs.

[He tips downward and sweeps an arm out wide in a mock bow.]
I am nothing if not a gentleman, messere.

[You are sweet, Varric, and she appreciates it.]

[The more he laughs, the better he feels. He imagines it has something to do with how Nari appears to be feeling as well.
Unfortunately, he can't hover over her forever. For starters, he imagined she wouldn't appreciate the constant surveillance.]
Listen, I should leave you to get some rest. If you need anything, send someone my way.

[Having good company does help a lot. She appreciates Varric's visit immensely.]
Thank you. I'll let you know how the stew was the next time we talk, alright?

[He gave her one last bow, before slipping back out the door.]
