second trial

[Like last week the announcement sounds, the Champions with their gathered evidence file once again to the teleporter where the courtroom waits for them.

The a circle of podiums has changed since last week. The Griffin, Toby, and Angelica's floating portraits have joined Chintanda's above their respective podiums as well as the bright green having been changed to a glaring red.

The Overseers are waiting on their floating platform when the first group of Champions arrive. They're back in their black suits, side by side. Jamie's expression is grim but he looks more mentally present than the last trial. Bolton, on the other hand, looks stern but not grim, arms crossed over his chest. Once again, he's the one who makes the announcement.]

Welcome, Champions, to the courtroom. Sixteen of you have entered, but - in the best case scenario - only fifteen of you will leave. Compile your evidence and figure out who the killer is. If you vote correctly, the culprit will be executed and the rest of you will be allowed to go back upstairs. If you vote wrong, however, the killer goes free and the rest of you take the punishment in their place.

Remember, there is no time limit but keeping things interesting is in your best interests.

I meant literally, Doctor. The Serpent... Always wears a mask.

So did most Scooby-Doo villains, an' they usually lasted longer.

[You ripped off your own mask here, bro, no meddling dog needed.]

There wasn't a single thing you said that was actually true, was there. Oh sure, on a technical level, maybe, but not true in the way any toddler could tell you is true.

...Remember when I said I wouldn't make a move like this unless I was coming out on top regardless? You have two options. You vote wrong, and all of you die while I go back to destroying the world I was working on... ...Or you vote correctly, jettison me into space... And I die for the second time I've ever died and return to my previous form. I'm a patient enough man. I'll be picked up by something eventually, too stupid or curious to know what they've found. Either way, I win.

I don't think so. You don't know how the soul works in every universe. Who's to say you'll go back to your own realm when you die here? Maybe you'll be stuck here until your ether rots away into the atmosphere.

Oh, no, I know. I'll simply become a mask again. I doubt it matters where. That's my true form, the true form of my soul. If I could extract it... You would see.

Or option three.

We find out what kind of weapons this ship has.

Yeah? One problem with that. That's assuming our lovely hosts here are just gonna stop at executing this body you're in.

Me, if I'm runnin' some sick Lord of the Flies Gameshow with a body-hopper as a contestant, and I have access to the levels a' tech these people do, I'm gonna make damn sure that execution is more than a passin' inconvenience.

They didn't even get my age right. You're assuming they knew.

Yeah, you willing to bet your fiddle of gold on that?

You're an imbecile if you seriously think there's any other option than throwing you out into space.

[As if anyone would consider not voting for Seth, really. Honestly? Most of what Seth said went over Togami's head...because he didn't care at all. That's why he has been watching all the time with bored expression.

God this trial never ends, he thinks]
