[He can feel panic rising in his chest but still he wraps his arms around Penny and pulls her into the tightest hug he can muster. He tries to think of something to say, something to comfort her but he's got nothing. So he just holds her as long as she'll let him.]

There's a lot he always thought he'd take to his grave, he just didn't imagine it'd be quite so literal. Counts minutes going by. Somewhere out there...somewhere out there is a world for all of them.
