Week 6

[Six weeks. Twenty-three Champions whittled down to just seven. Where the halls of the station once felt crowded and loud now they're empty and echo when someone speaks too loudly. Again, the Champions will find themselves experiencing strange dreams on Sunday night but outside of the usual wake-up call there is no new floor announcement from CECE.

Like the trash compactor last week, the infirmary is pristine and sterile once again. As if nothing had ever happened.]

[By the time he gets there, the scene is familiar: a dead girl lies slumped against the far wall, a wound in her chest and blood spilling down her front.

Miki Naoki is (still) dead.]

[his breath stutters as he moves to her side, slower then he did when this happened for real, but he ends up kneeling in the same spot.

He knows she's no ghost. If she was surely her head would roll up. She'd poke him in the forehead. 'Why weren't you there? You were there every other night, why not when I -needed you-?'

But she doesn't. He reaches to touch her hand, sure he will reach nothing, but having to try]

Oh Miki... I... I'm so sorry...

[She doesn't move or react. His hand passes through her, with no visible distortion.]

[he expected as much, but can't help a pang of regret anyways. Still, either he is hallucinating, part of some mass hysteria that started with Marisa-

[he remembers the little burial plot Penny had made, and rubs at his eye]

Miki was... Hurt. And scared. But she tried to look after people, and be brave. And... she had a great smile when you could get it out-! A... And I'm going to remember that, not this... Not anymore.

[he hadn't realized it, but he had decided that a few nights before, when he tied up Penny's hair with Miki's ribbon. So on shaky knees he stands, letting the image go]

[The image doesn't fade away fright in front of him, but if he turns away and then looks back again she'll be gone.]
