[Well, it's probably a good sign that each Champion still awakes in their own bed, and not in a completely random dimension. Or a bad sign, depending on how you look at it.

Still, there doesn't seem to be much amiss on the main floor of the space station... Except for a kind of cloying smell that very faintly lingers in the air around the teleporter.

(There is no body in the cafeteria, but it is a surprise place that will help us out later.)

this is about to make him ready to lose the rest of any sanity he has, so he holds it up to Karamatsu, kinda freaked out; shared horror is a little less bad than lone horror]

[Wordlessly, Karamatsu walks over to Thomas to see what he was holding up, taking the list in his hands to look it over.


And he pales.]

[If this were any other dimension where people didn't die on a weekly basis, this wouldn't be nearly as terrifying to see.]

[he refuses to believe someone chose that death. the idea that she had enough presence of mind to choose as she slowly decayed horrifies him enough, was bad enough yesterday when he and Akira were trying to clear the freezer and keep her here for just a little longer, long enough they could get a solution. everything's telling him to panic and run away, but-]

[Karamatsu looks up at Thomas from the list, his hands shaking.]

Someone else must have written this... there is no way she would want to die such a.. a-a gruesome death.

[he shakes his head. something's wrong with this, he knows how easy it can be to tamper with a crime scene, to misdirect, but who and what and why... he has to believe she didn't choose this.]

That's how she writes... [he very much remembers how distinctively bad her handwriting is.]

[Look, Karamatsu doesn't want to say he doesn't believe you but he doesn't believe you.


...well, more so he just doesn't want to believe that she wanted to die this way. Or at all, really. She was always so happy that people accepted her even though she was already dead, so he just can't see it.]


....we will just have to wait and see at the trial.
