Afterparty 1: Booze For All
[WELL THAT CERTAINLY WAS SHIT. Considering how shitty everyone felt after the shit show that was that trial, Zombina didn’t feel comfortable just… letting everyone go off and drown in their own misery alone.
There was only one possible thing to do now.
Drink to forget. Also possibly talk about feelings and deface the lovely picture of Rox’s face she and Chloe got Max to make a while back.
So Zombina goes around to collect as many donations of alcohol as possible, along with spreading the word about the afterparty. If people don’t open their doors, then a note is slid under the door reading:]
Come to the cafeteria. We have free booze and company!!! Be sure to bring any food or booze ya got! -Zombina
[ Zombina’s set up the portrait with an marker beside it. A note in large letters says: “Deface Shark-chan for fun. Be as crude or lewd as ya wanna be. Feel free to hit it, stab it, or otherwise do whatever to it.
The Memorial Canvas has several new names on it. Lucina, Tsurugi Kamishiro, Miki Naoki, and Chitose Karasuma. There’s hand writing under all but Chitose’s. There's writing utensils next to it,
along with the usual note saying to write whatever you liked about that person, or though about them, or wished you could tell them, etc., under the names.]
Lucina-chan, ya didn’t deserve what happened ta ya. I might not be able ta go and take out Grima for ya, but I’ll sure as hell try and get my teammates ta do so in my steed.
Tsurugi-kun, I consider ya ta be a person, and a good one at that. This never woulda happened if it weren’t for Shark-chan. I hope that you find peace and happiness in the afterlife.
Miki-chan, You were an strong person. Your loss is a huge blow to us all. I’ll do what I can about your world. I know you were scared of me ta one degree or another, but I still feel like I need ta do something for ya.
[The woman herself can be found manning the drinks, with several empty cups laid out ready to be filled. There’s an area with an note reading “Communal Booze Stash: Donations Always Accepted!” On the table where the booze is. So far there’s a bottle of whisky nabbed from Chloe’s stuff. It’s what she would’ve wanted. There’s also a table with bowls and spoons and the ice cream from Chloe’s stuff as well.
She waves a freshly stitched up hand at whoever passes by. She kinda fucked up her fingers on both hands at the trial, so she had to realign them. The cut from the blood check is also freshly stitched up.]
Ya got any donations for the Communal Booze Stash? Or are ya here for an cup?
[Later once everyone is sufficiently drunk, Zombina can be found at the picture of Rox, doodling shark teeth over her mouth and adding devil horns.]
Whaddya… whaddya think? I think this should be hung up for postier…. Pos… later use?
[She’s…. really smashed and giggles at her own sentence.]
[Otherwise, Zombina is free to approach and/or pull over to talk too at her at anytime, both pre-drunk and post-drunk.]

[How is that even possible? That's not even death, what's being described, but things have to die for real in their world. Otherwise, how would you ever have room for new people? How would things ever change and move on?
Now isn't the time to ask those questions. A world without death seems existentially terrifying, but in this exact moment, it's almost preferable.]
Okay. Yeah. I could...I kinda got that towards the end. It's gotta be scary, to face that for the first time... [He doesn't even remember when he first understood mortality. It's just something you learn as a young kid. Everyone knows what it is to die, even if they haven't faced it in earnest yet.]

...when we were very young, about ten, Osomatsu got very sick. He very nearly died, but...he came out of it. That is the closest we have come. Ever since then, the close calls have been nothing but that...close.
I know it probably does not make much sense, but...now we know how things are going to be, here. Which means that...we all have to be careful.

[It's a really belated realization, but it puts a lot of things in context for Max. The pair of them were goofing off so much the first week. And why not, if they thought the threat of murder was just...a game? Something that could happen and still have everyone be okay in the end?]
All the more reason to look out for each other.

That we intend to do.
[He manages something of a smile.]
Thank you...for your concern, by the way. That is not something we hear often.

[Why not? is another question that springs to mind, but he's just gonna leave that one alone too.]
Let me know if you need anything else, okay? I don't really think anybody's still gonna be mad - [at least not mad enough for it to overpower the sadness today] - but, uh, I can get why you might wanna just lay low.

[It admittedly took Max a while to register that the brothers were on opposite ends of the hall, but once he did he figured it had to be intentional.]

[...oh, it doesn't matter anymore. It's not like he has much room to care about what people think right now.]
We share a room back home. All six of us. So...I did not enjoy the thought of having my own room as much as I thought I would.

[As much as Max wishes he had somebody to share his room with, six people sounds like the absolute worst.]

Yes...but we have been making do. I will say, as awful as it is having to be here...I am very glad I am not alone.

[No one is gonna have a GOOD night, let's just be real]

[It's going to suck, like. Hardcore. But he'll do his best.]
