[It's your first week here, and you've been offered a fantastic prize for killing someone: an all-expense paid vacation! It's a pretty standard prize as far as reality game shows go.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), this isn't exactly a game show.

It seems that no one has died this weekend, and the deadline for the prize is now expired. There's no announcement from the Overseers to that effect; in fact, none of you have seen either of them since Tuesday. Maybe they'll make a reappearance soon, but for now, it seems that you've got a moment of peace.

Then again, that Earth place sounds a lot more peaceful than Eos. I think I'd give up magic and daemons for that.

Probably. But it's got its fair share of shit, too. War and crime still exist, you know.

[He quiets for a moment, then tilts his head at Yuri as he runs.]

Huh. What do you guys use to make electricity?

...Wires? I don't know that stuff works.

No, I just meant... the power plant in Lestallum uses the energy from the Meteor that fell to Eos thousands of years ago. I think it's at least partially magic? So I was just wondering where yours comes from.

Nope. No magic, just science.

[ or something like that, anyway. ]

I know that for a fact.

Hey, they're not mutually exclusive. At least, not where I come from. There's lots of technology that uses magic and vice-versa. That's why hearing about all these worlds with no magic is so weird to me, it's such a normal part of life on Eos.
