[It's your first week here, and you've been offered a fantastic prize for killing someone: an all-expense paid vacation! It's a pretty standard prize as far as reality game shows go.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), this isn't exactly a game show.

It seems that no one has died this weekend, and the deadline for the prize is now expired. There's no announcement from the Overseers to that effect; in fact, none of you have seen either of them since Tuesday. Maybe they'll make a reappearance soon, but for now, it seems that you've got a moment of peace.

[ later, there's a loud series of knocks on karamatsu's door. ]

Hey, Karamatsu! Open up!

[karappo]

[Well. There's no mistaking that voice.

Open comes the door...just a tiny bit. What a familiar sight, but reversed.]

Yes, Yuri-kun?

[quadjumps]

[ now that the door's open... ]

What was that all about earlier?

[karappo]

Ah...

[Karamatsu smiles, though his eyes betray Fear.]

...It was a Delivery Skit. Osomatsu and I came up with it last night before we went to bed...and decided we would preform it this evening.

[quadjumps]

....A what? What's a delivery skit supposed to be?

[karappo]

It is just what it sounds like. It is a skit...usually about a fable or some other well known tale. We put our own spin on it.

We thought it might break the tension somewhat.

[quadjumps]

[ this is after his talk with korra, so yuri's going to...try to watch himself a little more, admittedly. he almost makes a comment--so much for that working out, huh--but holds back. ]

...Nice...effort.

[ HE'S TRYING TO BE...A LITTLE NICER, OKAY.... ]

[karappo]

[You're such a good boy, Yuri, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.]

Thank you...it admittedly did not go as we had planned, but I am glad we tried it anyway. It made things feel a bit more like home, for a moment.

Hey, Karamatsu. What was "home" like for you?

[karappo]

[Karamatsu pauses. He glances up at the ceiling, trying to imagine for a moment that he isn't in space, but instead sitting upstairs in his family home with his back to their couch as they roll out the futon for bed.]

I want to say it was...is...normal, but. It is anything but.

[He breathes a sigh.]

I live in a small ward near Tokyo. My family and I have lived in the same place since I was born. The city has grown up around our little house while it has remained mostly the same as it always has. My brothers and I were well known as children for being sextuplets, but...as we grew older, that novelty began to fade.

[And people started getting tired of their shit, which is why they have no friends really.]

[quadjumps]

[ that would be pretty pitiful, if yuri knew that. but he doesn't. he just thinks that they stopped being special for being sextuplets. ]

That sounds pretty normal to me.

[karappo]

Compared to a lot of what I have heard from others, I suppose on the surface it would be normal. We do not have magic or go on grand quests of glory...nor do we have colonies in space or anything like that.

[He pauses, bringing a hand to his chin. When he spells it out like that it...is kindof obvious that they are all useless freeloaders, so that's fun.]

At its core, our lives are a slice-of-life anime with much absurdist humor tossed in to make it interesting.

[quadjumps]

So what do you do, then? Just go to work and then stay at home all day?

[ he's...kind of catching on??? ]

That's one way to put it. Not that I watch anime or anything like that.

[karappo]

[You're missing out, then, Yuri.

Also...also...Karamatsu freezes, and for a long moment he isn't sure how to answer that.]

I do not stay home all day. Sometimes I go out for some fresh air...or go fishing. Or go play Pachinko...

[But there's also no mention of work.]

[quadjumps]

[ he's definitely catching on now, holy shit karamatsu ]

...So you don't have a job? You just bum out at home?

[karappo]

[.....listen.]

I...have no plans, currently.

[quadjumps]

...Karamatsu.

[ JUDGING YOU... ]

How old are you again? Thirty?

[karappo]

[DONT]

N...no, I am twenty one.

[quadjumps]

...Oh.

[ so... ]

You should still get a job!

[karappo]

I- I have...done some job searching.

[That's a lie. Well...not entirely. They went to a temp agency once, but it didn't go well.]

My brothers and I did work...briefly, washing dishes at a restaurant.

[Except they got fired because every five minutes they'd switch to a new brother, taking advantage of their identical nature in a bad way to get out of doing all the work.]
