[It's your first week here, and you've been offered a fantastic prize for killing someone: an all-expense paid vacation! It's a pretty standard prize as far as reality game shows go.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), this isn't exactly a game show.

It seems that no one has died this weekend, and the deadline for the prize is now expired. There's no announcement from the Overseers to that effect; in fact, none of you have seen either of them since Tuesday. Maybe they'll make a reappearance soon, but for now, it seems that you've got a moment of peace.

What if we made our own blind spots? The rules only say not to tamper with the equipment, but if we could make some sort of enclosed space, then it might be possible to evade the cameras that way.

That's not a bad idea. Or maybe we could cover up some of the cameras? We wouldn't be making alterations to them or damaging them....

[Create a blind spot instead of relying on the ones that already there.]

That may fall under obscuring them, but if we keep anything we make far enough from the cameras, then... perhaps we can claim it's an art project or something like that.

Yeah... or just say we were doing something like building a fort.

We could test it by making a couple at random or... disguising it as a group activity, like the movies.

Why not? They can't tell us to not make forts to sit around in if we want to.

[... they can but. They HAVEN'T and that's the important part.]

Right. I just hope they don't decide to revise the rules too quickly once they realize what is happening.

[Maybe it would be okay for a couple of weeks? After that, he's not sure if it would continue to work.]

Also, I don't think there are cameras in the shower rooms. Not that I could see, at least? [Blind spot.]

Thank you very much for mentioning that. It might be a bit much for large group meetings, but... the running water might also help to drown out our voices if we think they're listening in.

I'd hope they weren't even listening in on the showers.

[That's a disturbing though and a half. She'd thought of the obvious with the cameras but... what if they are listening in? That's creepy enough.]

Maybe we could find them and muffle them...

They may not be, but they already seem to have gone to great lengths to contain and track us here.

[What with all the cameras, the PIPs... Anyways, Miki gets a nod at that.]

If they aren't fixed in the walls, then investigating the shower rooms seems the easiest.

So, we assume if we're not being visually monitored in there we're being monitored some other way. [It makes sense. As good as it is to have somewhere with no visual monitoring, there may be sound or even heat readings to see if people are going in there in groups and spending too much time in there. But she still thinks it's better than nothing, having somewhere camera-free. ]

Right. So if there is something, we find it and avoid it?

Yes. Or just be careful to not let anything important slip when they are present.

They may still be on guard for an attack from us, but as long as we can hide enough from them... then we may be able to break through.

[Miki presses a finger to her lips.]

I won't.

I think if we did try an attack and it failed, it would be a disaster though. We'd have to be sure that it had a perfect chance of success.

[Miki turned out to be too right...]

Of course. We... we'll probably need to bide our time for a while until we can get enough information. Maybe we could also find out if anyone else is aboard as well; this place looks far too large for those two to be managing everything on their own.

Patience isn't a bad thing. The more we can find out, the more we'll have to use against them we the time comes. Or when we most need it.

[She's sure of that.]

And the better the chance that we will all be able to escape this place unscathed.

But if you don't mind my saying so, you're very composed about this, Ms. Miki. It's... reassuring.

[Does she? It's... it's an absolute lie if she does, she's scared most of the time.]

... if we panic then we don't get anything done. I don't even know what I'm supposed to do or say, but... if we know what they want from us then maybe we know how to go about not giving them what they want.

[Fake it 'til you make it!! or something??

If we continue to resist them like this, do you think they'll bore of us?

... That might not be a good thing, though. If we bore them, what if they just decide to get rid of us?

[They're rats in a cage in space here. How are they supposed to survive if the people keeping them there decide that mass execution is the only way to go?]

W-well... [He can't deny it and honestly he has worse things in mind too, so...]

I wonder if the rules would still apply then, in that case.

I think if the people in charge decide to get rid of us, then they can just [screw] ignore the rules.

Oh, I meant on our end. If they decide to discard them, I was thinking we may be able to act without impunity for a short time.

[Which would be the best case scenario if they're careless enough but.]

So... that's a goal then? Wear them down to a point that they have to discard the rules...?

[But what would they have to do to get them that desperate...]
