[It's your first week here, and you've been offered a fantastic prize for killing someone: an all-expense paid vacation! It's a pretty standard prize as far as reality game shows go.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), this isn't exactly a game show.

It seems that no one has died this weekend, and the deadline for the prize is now expired. There's no announcement from the Overseers to that effect; in fact, none of you have seen either of them since Tuesday. Maybe they'll make a reappearance soon, but for now, it seems that you've got a moment of peace.

Hopefully nothing happens to it.]

[... she frowns a little at that. and hey she's never heard chucklefucks before, thanks for the lexicon]

[And then she leans forward and flicks him lightly in the middle of his forehead.

But just because you're used to something bad doesn't mean you should be okay using it as a baseline for what you're willing to put up with.

[he grunts, taking off his glasses so he can rub at his head. With the lens and bangs no longer hiding the details of his expressions it's clear that his smile is a little wavering. Worried, tired and scared ]

...okay. No promises, but okay.

[She's not exactly a stranger to hiding feelings. Or signs other people might b as well. So she just... stares at him for a moment longer.

How's she supposed to help someone when she can't even talk to people to help herself?]

... That's better than nothing. But we're working for the same goal here. Don't do everything yourself.

[he's a liar]

[stillstands]

[She just.. stares at him for a long, long moment.]

... Okay.

[Yeah, that stare let's him know she doesn't fully believe him. And he doesn't have the heart to try and convince her of something he knows isn't really true.

So instead he just pats her shoulder.]
