[It's your first week here, and you've been offered a fantastic prize for killing someone: an all-expense paid vacation! It's a pretty standard prize as far as reality game shows go.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), this isn't exactly a game show.

It seems that no one has died this weekend, and the deadline for the prize is now expired. There's no announcement from the Overseers to that effect; in fact, none of you have seen either of them since Tuesday. Maybe they'll make a reappearance soon, but for now, it seems that you've got a moment of peace.

[Wow, so, yeah, that happened.

When Prompto's sure everyone's had a moment to cool off and no one's around to witness him, like, offering sympathy to Yuri--for Yuri's sake, he knows it's not cool to have a bro ruin your dramatic storming off--he knocks on the door.]

Hey, Yuri? You okay in there, dude?

[quadjumps]

[ prompto.

not the most unwelcome company, and yuri's not as....upset to hear his voice as he would be with other people, honestly. prompto's one of the only people he actually likes around here, so his demeanor softens and he actually opens the door. ]

Hey.

I'm fine. Did you need something?

[photoshooter]

Just wanted to check in on you, buddy. That sure was something today, huh?

[He looks down at his hands as he twists them awkwardly in front of him.]

Sorry. I would've come in to help you, but I didn't realize it was gonna get physical until too late.

[quadjumps]

It's better you didn't.

[ korra and miki were enough. ]

...I'm going running in a bit. [ pause. ] Wanna come?

[Yuri, Miki, Prompto... Blond Team's gotta go fast.]

In the hall? Yeah, I'm always game for a run.

[quadjumps]

[ hell ye ]

Alright.

[ he's gonna step out into the hallway, then. ] Let's go. [ yuri will get a teeny bit of a head start. ]

[Prompto doesn't mind. They're running, not racing, and it's easy enough to keep pace at Yuri's shoulder so they don't take up the whole hall.

After a minute, he pipes up.]

You run a lot, Yuri?

[He's got good form, yo.]

Yeah. I have to as part of my training.

[ keep up his endurance and all. ]

You?

I used to every day, before or after school. It's... a little harder to find time lately.

[What with the being on the run thing and all.]

[quadjumps]

Well now's your chance. Just don't go alone.

[ is he worried...? ]

[photoshooter]

...Aw. You worried about me?

[Do you have bro dokis, Yuri? Broki broki panic?]

[quadjumps]

What? Hell no!

[ he is totally worried. bro dokis are a go. ]

I'm--just telling you how to survive around here. That's it.

Hehe. Okay, if you say so, dude.

[Either way, he's happy.]

It's more fun to run with someone, anyway. ...Also this way people have a better chance of hearing us and not getting run over.

[ he doesn't say anything to that, instead turning his focus back to the "road" ahead. it's not quite a road, but if prompto looks over, he'll notice it's more like yuri's zoning out instead of focusing on the run.

finally, he'll turn to prompto in between breaths: ]

What's it like, where you're from?

Huh? [Prompto'd started spacing out, too.] What do you mean?

It sounds a lot like earth to me. You're sure you're not from there, right?

[photoshooter]

Oh. Yeah, totally sure. [As if their first conversation wasn't enough to prove that much.] All your countries are different, and I think you guys have different animals, too... And no magic.

No daemons, either, right? You guys are safe at night?

[quadjumps]

For the most part? Unless there's an axe murderer nearby, then yeah, there's no demons.

So do you have powers? You're not a zombie like that zombie chick, right?

O-of course I'm not a zombie!

[Dude!]

I'm human, same as you! I don't even really have powers, not on my own. [He shakes his head and resettles into his running rhythm.] Noct--my friend--the way his magic works is that he can give some of it to other people to help him fight. So I could do things like summon my weapons, or shoot a ball of light into the air... little things.

[quadjumps]

Hey, I have to double-check. After seeing Zombina, I'm willing to believe anything.

[ that is just. oh boy. ]

Damn, so you at least know what it's like to have powers? Pretty crazy. That's not even possible back where I'm from.

Yeah, I'm getting the sense it's not that common where most people come from.

[This Earth place sounds mad boring, yo.]

Then again, that Earth place sounds a lot more peaceful than Eos. I think I'd give up magic and daemons for that.

Probably. But it's got its fair share of shit, too. War and crime still exist, you know.

...Yeah. I guess that's just human nature.

[He quiets for a moment, then tilts his head at Yuri as he runs.]

Huh. What do you guys use to make electricity?

[quadjumps]

...Wires? I don't know that stuff works.

No, I just meant... the power plant in Lestallum uses the energy from the Meteor that fell to Eos thousands of years ago. I think it's at least partially magic? So I was just wondering where yours comes from.
