In a Galaxy Far, Far Away

[Max doesn't bother putting out any flyers for this or anything; he's already discussed the movie party with a lot of people, and he'll probably round up anybody he's missed while he's getting ready. The preparations aren't anything too fancy. He's put a soda by each seat, along with a little plastic cup of popcorn. It's not a lot of work, but it's a fair amount of cups - maybe someone can help get it ready?

Regardless, he'll lean out the door and call when he's done:]

Hey, dudes, come watch Star Wars with us!

[Yes, it's Star Wars night. A New Hope, none of that prequel garbage. We apologize to Finn, I guess.]

[She glances up toward Max when he draws attention to himself, but her expression doesn't change.]

I wouldn't mind.

Cool, cool! I mean, there's stuff you could get spoiled for in the third one, too, but I think two's as many as we can get through in one night.

[Also Darth Vader being Luke's father is, like, the big one.]

It's not like I don't know anything about these movies, Max. The first one came out over a decade ago, to me.

Wait, you're from a world with movies?

[immaculacies]

[tilts her head...]

Why would you think I wasn't?

I dunno, dude, my world's got a pretty notable lack of future-telling kids. I figured you were from some, like, high fantasy place like Prompto.

[immaculacies]

No. Mm... That's why I said that you might just not know, if there's something more than mundane in your world. The existence of magi and other such things is a hidden secret in mine, but if ours share the same movies, they must be at least be superficially similar. Don't you think?

[theundertaken]

Huh. I guess so. [He scratches his beard thoughtfully.] It just always seemed like, eventually, people would know if there was something that big out there.

[immaculacies]

That's understandable. In fact, magecraft is much weaker in my world than it once was for precisely that reason. "Mystery," as a concept, makes a phenomenon stronger. As humans make technological progress, less and less of the unexplained remains, and the power of the supernatural dwindles.

That's why magi take such pains to remain hidden. I'm sure if my father knew I was talking about this with you, he'd be furious.

Ohhhh, sh - should you not be doing this? You don't have to.

[Look at him, actually managing not to casually curse in front of the young girl.]

[immaculacies]

[She shakes her head.]

If I thought it would matter, I wouldn't. But... It's clear that the space we exist in now is separate from any of the worlds we originated from. If I say something here, it shouldn't have any effect on a planet that exists universes away.

...makes sense. It's not like any of us are gonna follow you back there, if we have the chance to get out of here. We've got our own stuff to do.
