Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Blaze Dudely and Rox came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Wednesday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot.

Not far enough yet. I don't think.

Ya... ya got any recommendations of books by that guy? I might try picking a few up myself.

[She's read maybe one other book, but she can go ahead and recommend it...]

I've read The Stand, which is one of his. It's a good story, if pretty dark.

What's it 'bout? Or is it the kinda book ya should go in knowing nothing ta?

... It's about life during and after the end of the world, due to a pandemic.

Ahhhh. So it's bound ta get kinda melancholic then? Unless the main character gets delusional or something ta cope.

You don't find the end of the world melancholic?

Well it'd be hard not ta, but unless it out right blows ta smithereens, the world ain't exactly over.

[That's kinda deep for you Zombina.]

Things only end when ya let 'em. As long as ya keep goin, the world ain't over, just kinda fucked up at the moment.

[stillstands]

And... what if there's no sign things will get better? You can keep living but... how long for without some sort of reprieve in the future?

[Right now, things were looking up back home. But would they still be okay a month from then? A year from then? If the the school-life club even survive that long.]

Ya can keep living as long as ya keep pushing on! If there doesn't look like an reprieve is comin' then ya gotta strike out and make one!

[Zombina pauses a moment before quietly asking.]

This conversation isn't about the book anymore, is it?

[stillstands]

No, not really.

[There's a pause and then:]

It's weird hearing those words come from something I'm afraid of. There's a friend of mine who has a similar policy: the importance of living instead of just surviving because you feel you have to. Finding things to do that remind you that good things happen even in the worst situations.

Haha, yeah, it must be hella weird!

[Zombina smiles at hearing Miki mention her friend's policy.]

That's an good policy ta live by. Your friend sounds like an real survivor. What's her name?

Yuki-senpai. She's...very positive, and quite perceptive in her own way.

Yuki-kun huh? She the leader of your.... group I guess? At least I'm hoping it's a group and not just you and her. In a zombie apocalypse, rule numero uno is ta always have an group.

[Oh Zombina. That's funny.]

Yuki-senpai? No, she's... not the leader. None of us are really the leader, we all help each other out.

[Yuki... wouldn't be a good leader. She's a moral booster, and quite perceptive. But not a leader.]

Ah.. okay. Still a super important role! Ya ain't gonna get anything done if moral's low. It's easier ta give up than ta keep pressin' on, so havin' someone like that is super important in life or death situations.

[Good to know that there's more than just Yuki though.]

So besides Yuki-kun, ya got others in ya group? What are they like?

Two others - Kurumi-senpai, and Yuuri-senpai.

[Good plan, Zombina. Get her talking about her friends.]

They're... very brave in their own ways. Kurumi is very strong and determined, and Yuuri is very calming and organised. [It's basic, the description, but ...] They're very important to me.

It sounds like ya gotta well balanced group there Miki-chan.

[Zombina hopes they are okay without Miki there.]

Yeah, that'd make sense. They like family ta ya almost?

[stillstands]

I guess we do. That was kinda lucky really.

... Yeah. They are. [She pauses.] As far as I know, they're all that's left. I'd be lost without them.

Geez... that's real rough.

[Zombina's surprised cute school girls are the last survivors of the zombie apocalypse.]

Maybe once we get outta here the rest of us can pick 'em up and all of ya can come ta one of our worlds instead?

[stillstands]

Now I'm not there, I don't want to go back. But... I don't want to leave them there. Stopping by and picking them up too is non-negotiable, wherever we end up.

Hell yeah it ain't. I'm not about ta leave a buncha school girls in zombie wasteland! Fuck, even If I had ta do it myself I'd go!

[Can't in good consiounce just leave them there!]

[stillstands]

[A zombie sure is getting mad at the idea of school girls being stuck surrounded by zombies.]

I.... don't even know how to get back there. Do we even know where we are right now? Let alone where that is in relation to our homes...

Well they got us here somehow so they better damn well be able ta get us back.

[Zombina crosses her arms.]

Even if they don't, we'll find a way ourselves. That's all there is ta it.

[stillstands]

And if there's no one left to tell us? If we have to escape in the middle of the night, unseen?

I wonder if there's some information somewhere on this ship. A map or something.
