Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Blaze Dudely and Rox came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Wednesday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot.

Enjoy your week, Champions.]

batfortheprincess: (♦ why must this happen?)

[The PIPs, huh... He takes a glimpse back down at his own. Honestly, nothing positive really comes to mind.]

Considering the rules, I could see them using these as a way to track our location around the ship. It would be easier than keeping watch constant watch over us using the cameras.
challengesfate: (gah-!)

[personal profile] challengesfate 2017-10-22 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
But...they cannot see us through the devices, can they? Or is it tracking by some other means?
batfortheprincess: (♦ at your service.)

[personal profile] batfortheprincess 2017-10-22 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I... don't think so, no. Otherwise it seems like there would be little point in installing external cameras. I am no expert in tracking devices, but... if all of our PIPs send out a signal periodically, they would only need some receivers to relay that information back to them. So if we assume it can work like that, there would need to be a receiver hidden in this room for them to detect us in here.
challengesfate: (ngh...)

[personal profile] challengesfate 2017-10-23 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
A signal...

[Wouldn't they be able to see signals if they were being sent out? Or are the signals not visible by normal means? Lucina looks down at her own PIP and hums.]

...Truly the technology here is...well beyond my understanding, but, this is much more than I thought possible.
batfortheprincess: (♦ are you certain of this?)

[personal profile] batfortheprincess 2017-10-24 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
What sort of technology are you used to, if I may ask? It seems as if many here are accustomed to the idea of being in space, but everyone's understanding seems to vary to degrees.
challengesfate: (somewhat exasperated)

[personal profile] challengesfate 2017-10-24 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Um...hm. Well, for travel, we often use wagons or horses...
batfortheprincess: (♦ what...?)

[personal profile] batfortheprincess 2017-10-24 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ah. That's pretty different...]

I see... this would be quite the adjustment to make, coming from somewhere like that. You have my sympathies.

Um, is there anything you would like me to clarify, then...?
challengesfate: (:/)

[personal profile] challengesfate 2017-10-25 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
...Yes. How...how would one be able to travel into space to begin with?
batfortheprincess: (♦ please give me a moment.)

[personal profile] batfortheprincess 2017-10-25 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Hmm... how to tailor this explanation to her? Well, first...]

Prin-- ah, Lucina. Are you familiar with explosives or cannons?
challengesfate: (eh?)

[personal profile] challengesfate 2017-10-25 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I am familiar with explosive materials - not in using them, but I've seen explosions before.

[Who knows if she knows what a cannon is.]

batfortheprincess: (♦ i am grateful; now and forever.)

[personal profile] batfortheprincess 2017-10-26 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
[That's honestly good enough for him, so he won't pursue it.]

I see. There are many ways of travelling to space, but you can think of it as a controlled explosion that pushes the ship upwards. The ship has to be built very strongly to handle the strain, but it can be perfectly safe for those on board.

[And he'll just... grab a sheet of paper to doodle a really crude rocket and a launchpad.]
challengesfate: (whoa-)

[personal profile] challengesfate 2017-10-26 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[And she will watch him doodle that because that doesn't sound safe at all.]

You're sure? Generally explosions...do a lot more harm than they do good.
batfortheprincess: (♦ i am grateful; now and forever.)

[personal profile] batfortheprincess 2017-10-27 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Ordinarily, it would be dangerous, yes. But the explosion itself is contained very carefully so that it only exits out one end and is blocked off from coming close to the passengers. The engineers that build them include safety measures in place as well.

[pchoo look at that shitty rocket with flames out one end]
challengesfate: (thats not-)

[personal profile] challengesfate 2017-10-27 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
That's...really quite incredible! I can't imagine how much time it must have taken for the engineers to get it to work like that.
