Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Blaze Dudely and Rox came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Wednesday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot.

Enjoy your week, Champions.]

It's...a little more complicated than getting stoned and playing Dr. Mario, but yeah, that's the idea.

[He slides over the PHB, right side up, flipped to the front of the Races section.]

You start your character by picking a race. Humans are kind of the jack of all trades, while the others are generally better suited for specific kinds of classes - magic, strength, dexterity, etcetera.
photoshooter: (ALERT 📷 Do I hear chocobos?)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2017-10-22 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I get it. Like how different kinds of monsters have different stats in games, too. Okay, which race is the fastest?
dejabrew: (I cast "frustrate GM")

[personal profile] dejabrew 2017-10-25 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm...

[He flips through the PHB's races.]

Elves and Halflings get a bonus to dexterity, which is probably the closest thing to speed.

[Please play a cute halfling.]
photoshooter: (HUH 📷 Wait what?)

[They're going to be named Kupo and as badass as he tries to make them, they will be nothing but adorable.]

And classes? Are there any that use guns, or-- [His eyes widen, and he suddenly looks delighted, leaning forward.] --can I be an assassin?
dejabrew: (and later I feel bad about it)

[personal profile] dejabrew 2017-10-26 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
No guns, I'm afraid, but a crossbow or a bow and arrows I can do you.

[He flips ahead to the section on rogues and roguish archetypes, tapping Assassin with his finger.]

Here you go. I'm actually rolling up an assassin, too, but she's going to have her weapons focus be the rapier so a ranged assassin wouldn't be bad to have either.

[Besides, with a party as potentially large as this, there's no way there's not going to be some duplicates.]
photoshooter: (ATTENTIVE 📷 Don't know but I do care)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2017-10-26 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, well, if you're gonna be an assassin, I can be one of these other things. Rogues are cool, too.

[Wait.]

You're gonna play a girl? [A beat.] ...We can do that?
dejabrew: (Time for some guilt-free arson)

[personal profile] dejabrew 2017-10-30 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
[A beat. And then a laugh.]

Of course you can. If you can be an elf or a halfling or a dragonborn, why couldn't you play a girl if you wanted to?
photoshooter: (SELFIE 📷 Oh my god do I try)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2017-10-30 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I dunno, I never thought about it! Guys playing as girl characters in games sort of get a reputation, I guess. I bet it's different when you play face-to-face instead of online. Aw, that could be kinda fun!
dejabrew: (to keep this party together)

[personal profile] dejabrew 2017-11-04 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Do they?

[Guess who's not really big into video games.]

Well you know I won't say no if I want to do it.
photoshooter: (OHO? 📷 Wanna see?)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2017-11-04 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[He suddenly looks really excited, lowering his voice.]

Could it be, like, a secret? Like she's disguised as a guy to protect her identity?
dejabrew: (surrounded by water)

[personal profile] dejabrew 2017-11-04 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely. Is she posing as anyone in particular, like a long-lost brother or something, or is she just pretending to be a dude?
photoshooter: (EENY MEENY 📷 Think think think)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2017-11-05 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm... if she's a sneaky type, it doesn't make sense for her to take on some recognizable name. So I guess she's just pretending to be a dude. --Maybe like royalty disguising themselves as commoners? Do halflings have princesses?
dejabrew: (surrounded by water)

[personal profile] dejabrew 2017-11-25 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
They have kind of... Well it's not really royalty, but they have like, Old Families. Like- do you have anything like Lord of the Rings where you're from?
