Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Blaze Dudely and Rox came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Wednesday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot.

Enjoy your week, Champions.]

Makes more sense once you've actually played it. Though, it also helps to have some people in the group who already know what they're doing.

Oh, so like having your upperclassmen show you the ropes in a sports club at school.

[Not... that Prompto was ever in any school clubs--too busy hanging onto Noct's coattails--but he's read comic books, he knows what they're like.]

So what kind of characters did you make? Did they have crazy adventures?

Sports is pretty much the anti-DnD, but yeah, I guess.

[Does this man look like he has ever done a sport]

Oh, man...I remember one time I had a halfling paladin - that’s kind of like a religious knight? But halflings are pretty much just hobbits, so his god was the goddess of beer-brewing. [okay what parts of that don’t make sense]
photoshooter: (OH? πŸ“· Kim's marrying who?)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2017-10-20 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, he knows what a paladin is from video games, and he has a vague sense what a halfling is from his attempts to grapple with this guide. So...]

Hobbits?
theundertaken: (vanishing)

[personal profile] theundertaken 2017-10-21 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Hobbits! Like from the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings - do you have those?
photoshooter: (HUFF πŸ“· You're joking right?)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2017-10-21 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, we have rings, yeah, but I'm guessing you're referring to something a little more specific.
theundertaken: (extinct)

[personal profile] theundertaken 2017-10-22 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
The Lord of the Rings! It's a book series, and they made it into movies too - shit, I'm pretty sure those movies aren't here, either. They're really fuckin' good.
photoshooter: (ALERT πŸ“· Do I hear chocobos?)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2017-10-22 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
They're good, huh? What're they about? Stuff like this?

[He taps the DnD book with his finger.]

Kinda! It was a big inspiration for this kinda stuff, and...basically any modern fantasy stuff you run across that's from Earth. Which is, uh, a lot here for some reason.

It's about a hobbit named Frodo - hobbits are kinda like little dudes with big hairy feet who all live in a nice peaceful place called the Shire - and he ends up inheriting a magic ring that turns out to belong to a dark lord who's trying to take over the world, so he's gotta go on a quest to destroy it.
photoshooter: (HUH πŸ“· Wait what?)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2017-10-22 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, wow. Kind of the opposite of my story, huh. Or, well, my friend's story, anyway. I'm kind of just along for the ride.

What does--what's his name, Frodo?--what does Frodo's ring do? I mean, if it's magic. Is it powerful?
theundertaken: (out of misery)

[personal profile] theundertaken 2017-10-23 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. It can turn you invisible, but the important part is that it contains, like, part of the Dark Lord's soul or something. So if you hang onto it, it makes you live longer, but it sorta turns you into a horrible evil wraith thing and you live a shambling half-life unable to feel joy in anything other than bringing suffering to others.

[starting to sound a little familiar, shout-out to Ardyn]
photoshooter: (EUGH πŸ“· THAT'S your plan?)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2017-10-23 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Eugh.]

That sounds terrible.

[Surely nothing in his world has any effect like that!]

The magic ring I know doesn't do that. I mean... I guess it takes a toll on the person wearing it? But it doesn't turn them into a wraith. That's a kind of daemon, you know? The Ring of the Lucii's connected with the Crystal, which is all about light and stuff.

[personal profile] theundertaken 2017-10-24 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, there's like...I dunno, supernatural light stuff in that story too. Not as much. But I think the thing was, if a mortal came too close to the god's light, it'd eventually burn them up. Figuratively.
photoshooter: (WONDER πŸ“· Kingdom Hearts is LIGHT)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2017-10-24 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think the Crystal does something like that? Only the King can use it, so they kept it all locked up away from everyone. And no one but the King's supposed to wear the Ring, either. Probably Lady Lunafreya knows more about what that's about, though, she knows about Light and gods and stuff.
theundertaken: (out of misery)

[personal profile] theundertaken 2017-10-25 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
If someone else wears it, do they get, like, lit on fire?
photoshooter: (WIDE πŸ“· Uh what the fuck is that)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2017-10-25 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno. I've never heard of someone not the king trying to.

[Because Prompto Argentum missed the entirety of the Kingsglaive movie, oops.]
