Week 1

[After the initial introduction of the Overseers, the Champions were left to their own devices in investigating the part of the ship they have access to to their hearts' content. However, the doors that Blaze Dudely and Rox came through are locked tight and cannot be unlocked via PIP.

On Wednesday morning, the same voice that awakened them the previous morning chirps at them again from their PIPs at 7 am on the dot.

No, I am not.

[But since she doesn't want a repeat of Yuri's prickly reaction to her stating something she felt was more a fact than beating herself down, we're not going to mention the word "burden", "problem", or anything close to it.]

But I am learning about things fairly quickly.

Good. Given the looks of this station and the sort of advances it already has, nobody can avoid getting a crash course in space-age technology, much as I told Sajyou.

It also seems to me there are more than enough helping hands to go around, should you require assistance.

It seems to me that it would be foolish to ignore it entirely. I'll admit, this list is so that I can work on these...concepts...one at a time, but to shut everything out...no one can grow as a person if they do so. And I have met many people so far who are more than willing to lend a hand. Hopefully, I can repay them for that.

Not attempting to murder anyone for a chance to get out would be a good start. [He says it so blandly that it's hard to tell if it's...supposed to be a joke or not...but probably??]

Against my better judgement, I'm curious if you understand the title they gave you. I would understand it better if it was, for instance, Champion Exalted, or Champion of Exaltation, but the phrase Champion Exalt by itself strikes me as odd.

I certainly did not have plans to. I would like to believe there is always another option.

[Whether he's saying it as a joke or not, she'll respond seriously enough. But at his question, she sort of just folds her hands together.] Yes, I understand it fine. I simply think that there were other candidates who would have been better suited.

[All right, that wasn't where he was going with that, but now he's vaguely actually interested.] Why do you say that?

[Well Kaiba, if you want to know what an Exalt is, you can ask plainly. But she gets what you mean, now, if only tangentially.]

I haven't done much to prove myself as an Exalt, specifically. My father was a just man who fought and died for the sake of peace, and his sister before him even moreso. All I've done in comparison is survive...and there's nothing left for me to rule, either, if it came to that. The Halidom has been in ruins for years.

Maybe it's the manner in which you survived. Or your potential to become.

It could be possible. Or perhaps...it might be something I can't remember. But, that's only if my age in the profile is to be believed.

...Several people have considered their profiles to be incorrect. But if it's some form of mind screw, whey not do it for everyone, to the same degree?

...Everything else listed on my profile is correct. But as for my age...no. I don't believe it.

[She can't. Two years is too long a gap. What could have happened that she can't change...?]

It's only a number being told to me, and I know it's wrong. What proof is there of it being right?

I don't see the point in telling such a small lie, but there's nothing else to suggest it's true. Perhaps it's a glitch in the system.

The alternative is that you at least have survived two more years, even if you're suffering from some kind of amnesia. I wouldn't count that out, either, depending on the process of bringing us here. The mind is a delicate and at times fickle thing.

I...don't know if I want to try and imagine what could have happened in those two years. The things I have to do...everything is in that timeframe.

Perhaps you bring your kingdom into an era of prosperity. That would certainly make you worthy of the title. [SHRUG] But what we must deal with is the here and now.

[I mean, he could be right - but there were so many variables, and fate always does whatever it can to stay its cataclysmic course. Who knows what could have happened in two years? What if she'd failed? What if there was no more possibility of changing fate?]
