Welcome to the Program

Good Morning, Champions. In the interest of maintaining healthy sleep patterns, a day/night cycle is in effect. Your presence is expected in the cafeteria in exactly one hour.

[The voice comes through not a large speaker, but through the device that's attached to each Champion's arm. Further investigation of the features of the device will reveal a list of profiles, a mini-map, and a list of rules. The hallways are shiny white and silver, with running lights along the floor and lights on the ceiling, and at the junction of the hallways is a sign with a knife and fork icon and an arrow pointing down the hall.

A figure skater!

[Karamatsu gasps, his eyes sparkling just at the mere mention of it.]

Oh, what a dazzling career that must be! And to be so young doing it, too...what I would not give to have the opportunity to experience similar grandeur!

[ karamatsu manages, somehow, to get the first genuine smile out of yuri since he's been here. ]

Yeah. I'm the youngest one in the division. I've been skating my whole life.

That sounds like a lot of hard work! I can understand why you would be eager to get back to what you were doing.

Where do you skate, exactly? I apologize for not having heard of you, I am just, ah...admittedly not the most athletic person. That title goes to my younger brother, Jyushimatsu.

[ HE'S GLAD SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS... ]

...Do all of you have 'Matsu' and the end of your names?

Oh, I am from Japan! So perhaps that is why...

And yes, we do! I am Karamatsu, my other brother with me here is Osomatsu...and then there is Choromatsu, Ichimatsu, Jyushimatsu, and Todomatsu.

[He counts off on his fingers, then holds six up.]

...Who names their kids like that?

[ smh...he feels kinda bad for them, honestly. ]

Anyway, yeah. You guys need a better representation of Japan. Your lead figure skater is trash.

[ yuuri katsuki. ]

[Karamatsu just shrugs a little. His parents, he guesses? Some of their names are...pretty bad if you know the actual meanings.]

Are they now?

[He feels like he'd be more offended by that if he followed professional figure skating at all.]

What is so bad about them?

He choked real hard in the Socchi Grand Prix and went to cry in the bathroom like a moron.

Is he rather new at professional skating? Because if that is the case then I could understand....since you mention that you are also on track for your debut.

Don't think so.

[ he honestly has no idea... ]

I'm debuting in the senior division this season. There only needs to be one Yuri on the rink.

Well...I have no doubt that you will perform very well with that level of confidence. It is quite a shame there is no way for you to practice on a ship like this...I would love to see.
