Patient is a 14 month old male, brought in half an hour ago by both of his mums for a nosebleed. Void carried on for a good fifteen minutes about what could be wrong with him ‘fore I just had to tell her and Sunshine to piss off so I can clean him off and have a look at him. [Dr. Sunburst’s tone changes to an affectionate coo, most likely at the baby.] It’s almost like my own sister-in-law doesn’t trust my medical expertise. Does she, Sonsun~? Your mum is just worrywart, isn’t she~? [Sonsun laughs and there’s the soft sound of tiny baby hands clapping.]
He’s actin’ fine, vitals are all normal, no fever or anythin’. Gonna tell his parents to keep an eye on him but I’ll talk to Umbra ‘bout uppin’ the humidity.

Today Stumpy shoved his prosthetic hand in a hot deep frier on a dare. It was hilarious at first. Captain laughed, First Mate laughed, crew laughed, everyone laughed. [A long suffering sigh.] Then it melted to the bottom of the frier and instead of asking for help like a normal person- [That sounds pointed at the patient himself.] -he shoved his other hand in there to pull it out.
Patient’s been given pain relief and, more importantly, a smack upside the head. Burns have been wrapped. They ain’t bad enough for him to lose more fingers but maybe now he’ll learn that prosthetics and hot oil don’t mix. Won’t ya, Stumps?

Personal note: talk to first mate Skullqueen ‘bout rebuildin’ the melted prosthetic. Maybe this time she can make it out of something grease-proof.

[There’s a long, dragged out silence on this tape. The only way they’re going to be able to tell it’s actually recording is by Solar Flare’s slow, shaky breathing.]
...We found the Captain. He’s- they- [She has to stop to compose herself, drawing in an unsteady breath before continuing.] Sunshine and Void tracked him down. That network, they just dropped him back onto Flavortown. Don’t know if they were aimin’ for one of the grease craters but that’s where he- he landed. [He sounds on the verge of tears and the recording stops before immediately picking back up again. Solar Flare sounds calmer now, more clinical.]
Patient male, aged 44 years. Condition is stable. We had to put him in a medically-induced coma to properly treat him but he’s...he’s resting now. [A pause.] Boiling grease burns over 75% of his body. Extensive nerve and tissue damage, to the point where introducing nanites would only prolong physical stability. Patient is set for frequent hemofiltration sessions, extensive skin grafts…can’t save the eye for sure, not bettin’ pretty on the arm or leg either. It’s...I’ll have to talk with the others but with enough cybernetics we might be able to save him. I ain't never seen anythin' like it, there's some kind of...machine clamped onto his arm. Far as I can tell, it's rooted deep. Luckily the grease fried it but good, think it'll come right off with the arm.
Void'll wanna look at it, see if there's any data that can come off it.
...Rad is still missing. We haven’t heard from her since she left to get him, none of us know if she’s- [Another pause and a soft clink of ice on metal and a swish of liquid.]

[Solar sounds...worried. Tired. Hushed.]
Upped the Captain's dose of painkillers. Nothing we try is working anymore, if we keep upping the dose like this he'll never be able to live without it again. [There's a heavy pause, like an unspoken thought that she's nonetheless unwilling to speak.]
He hasn't been himself since he woke up. Paranoia, anger... Not that I can blame him, after what they did. Still... he's not the same captain who led us out of Flavortown.
[A deep breath, and a return to professionalism.]
I've also prescribed some medicine that I hope'll help with his...mental state. I hope he takes 'em. There's none of us who can make the Captain do something he doesn't want to do...
